Student Pilot Intentionally Crashes Plane, Killing Self Because His Family Forced Him To Become A Pilot
Story out of East Hartford, Connecticut:
Investigators believe a twin-engine airplane was intentionally crashed onto a busy street in Connecticut, killing a student pilot, local police and a federal official said Wednesday.
The Piper PA 34 light aircraft went down Tuesday afternoon on Main Street in East Hartford near the front gate of Pratt & Whitney, a manufacturer of aircraft engines for both civil and military aviation, raising fears the crash was an act of terrorism.
The flight instructor, who survived the crash, told first responders and investigators he got into an altercation with the student pilot, which resulted in a struggle in the cockpit, a US official with direct knowledge of the investigation said.
The official said it appeared the student pilot was frustrated with his family and said he was being forced to become a pilot. (Well, not anymore.)
No recorders or video were on board the small plane, meaning there is no direct evidence to corroborate what the flight instructor said.
But based on initial interviews, authorities believe the instructor's account is truthful and that the student pilot intentionally crashed the plane. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

Woman Returning Items To Babies 'R Us After Miscarriage Told She Can Only Get Back Half In Store Credit
Babies 'R Us' motto: 'Where's your dead baby's' money at bitch?'
Story out of Watertown, Connecticut:
A mom based in Watertown, Conn., who suffered a stillborn birth says she was humiliated by Babies 'R Us staff after she was forced to explain why she was returning her items.
Jessica Huchko, who is the mom of three girls, shared her heartbreaking experience through a public Facebook post in late August.
"My husband and I were so excited to be expecting a son in October," she wrote. "So I went to babies r us and bought a new car seat and a double stroller since I needed to upgrade my equipment. Unfortunately we learned that my son had passed away."
She continued, "I delivered my son at 24 weeks. Held him and hugged him until I had to let him go. I was absolutely heartbroken. I had to make the dreaded trip to your store soon after my loss to return my purchases. I never expected that my son would not survive so I did not save the receipt."
When the 35-year-old mother arrived at the store, she claims staff kept probing her for answers as to why she was returning the baby products she unfortunately could no longer use.
"I guess I didn't give her a good enough answer, so she asked, ‘Why are you returning this?’" Huchko told WFSB. "And it triggered something inside of me, that a tear just rolled down my face and I had to just say, 'My son passed away and I can't use them."'
The cashier did eventually apologize once she learned the reasons for the mother's returns, according to Huchko. However, when senior staff got involved, things reportedly got worse.
After finding out some of the items the mother recently purchased were discontinued, the store manager offered Huchko half the value of the car seat and only two cents for the stroller.
"I was so upset and frustrated with this place I started hysterically crying while everyone was watching me. I have never been more embarrassed in my life," Huchko shared, as reported by Good Housekeeping. "I was still in complete mourning of losing my son and now this? I grabbed my store credit and ran out of the store."
After her traumatic experience, Huchko reached out to local news and shared her story via social media, and it was only then Babies 'R Us got in touch with her, apologized and offered her the remaining balance. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

Teen Gets 25 Years After Murdering Girl Who Rejected Him As Her Prom Date
On the bright side he's going to get plenty of prom dates in prison. Story out of Milford, Connecticut:
A teenager was sentenced Monday to 25 years in prison for fatally stabbing a classmate after she turned down his invitation to the junior prom.
A judge handed down the sentence to 19-year-old Christopher Plaskon in Milford Superior Court. He pleaded no contest to murder in March in the killing of 16-year-old Maren Sanchez inside Jonathan Law High School in Milford on April 25, 2014, the day of the prom.
Sanchez's parents said after the hearing that they were frustrated that the prison sentence wasn't longer. Plaskon will be eligible for parole in 13 years under new state juvenile sentencing laws.
While prosecutors said there was evidence from several sources that the attack was prompted by Sanchez's rejection of Plaskon's prom invitation, Plaskon's lawyer, Edward Gavin, said the stabbing wasn't related to the prom. Family and friends of Plaskon told police he was upset with Sanchez for rejecting his invitation. Cont. (Video)
