Woman In Critical Condition After Exploding Pumpkin Accident

A woman was critically injured after an air cannon exploded at the “Punkin Chunkin” event in Bridgeville, Delaware on Sunday.

The event involves launching pumpkins from various devices.

In this case, an air cannon called the “Pumpkin Reaper” exploded as it launched a pumpkin, with a trap door and other parts flying into the air, according to footage posted on YouTube.

The 39-year-old woman, who has not been named, was struck by falling pieces in the head, according to local ABC station WMDT.

“It arcs down on this woman who is running away as it hits her,” spectator David Aronson told the Associated Press.

Woman Dies After Falling From Zip Line

Story out of Bear, Delaware:

Delaware State Police are investigating the death of a woman who fell from a zip line ride at Lums Pond State Park in Bear.

Authorities say the 59-year-old woman fell about 40 feet from the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure attraction Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics before being taken by ambulance to the Christiana Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Cont.

Father Charged After He Lets His 13-Year-Old Murder Seagull

Story out of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware:

Police in the Delaware resort of Rehoboth Beach say a Canadian man has been charged for allowing his daughter to allegedly lure a seagull to a hole in the sand, where she killed it with a plastic shovel.

A police statement says officers were called to the beach on Wednesday about complaints that a girl was trying to hit seagulls with a shovel.

The statement says the 13-year-old put food in a hole in the sand and allegedly killed one seagull, which was later found in a trash can.

Authorities say officers found the girl's father, 48-year-old Christian Lesieur of Quebec, drinking alcohol on the beach.

Police say Lesieur was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanour. Cont. (Video)

Volunteer Firefighter Dies After Falling Out Of Helicopter

Couple Steals $790 Worth Of Groceries Over three Months

Story out of Rehoboth, Delaware:

Delaware State Troopers arrested a couple on Mother’s Day for shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of groceries from a GIANT food store.

According to police, David Sankey, 53 and Diana Sankey, 60 began making daily trips to the GIANT store on Lighthouse Plaza Boulevard in early February. They would pay for all of the items in their cart at checkout but surveillance video revealed they were leaving the store with additional unpaid items like meats and hygiene products that they were hiding on themselves.

Loss Prevention Officers at the store determined the Sankeys managed to shoplift more than $790 in just three months. Cont.
