"Merkel Must Go!" - Hundreds Of Neo-Nazis March In The Streets Of Berlin
It looks like this group needs a leader. Hey! Trump will be free in a day or two.
Story out of Berlin, Germany:
Hundreds of far-right protesters have marched through Berlin calling for Chancellor Angela Merkel to be removed from office.
Police accompanied the protest through the German capital’s former Jewish district, at one point forcibly removing a blockade staged by far-left counter-demonstrators.
The protest began at the city’s main train station, where speakers criticized the government’s decision to allow large numbers of migrants into Germany. A crowd of up to 500 people chanted slogans such as “Merkel must go!”
A Berlin police spokesman says the event passed “relatively peacefully” apart from a few attempts by counter-protesters to break through police lines. Winfrid Wenzel was unable to immediately say whether there had been any arrests or injuries. Cont.

14-Year-Old Stabs Friend Wearing Clown Mask After Prank Goes Wrong
Story out of Berlin, Germany:
German police say a teenager's attempt to frighten a group of young people by wearing a clown mask and brandishing a hammer on a Berlin street turned out very badly.
Berlin police said Tuesday that a 14-year-old responded by pulling a knife and stabbing the clown, only to find that the clown was a 16-year-old acquaintance.
He rendered first aid until emergency medical help could arrive Monday.
The older teen was taken to a hospital. The 14-year-old was released to his parents.
Another clown incident was reported by Austrian police, the APA news agency reported. Police said a 19-year-old was injured after being chased by two people dressed as clowns who jumped from bushes in the town of Schwaz. A third clown joined the chase and attacked the man with a baseball bat.
News media in Europe and America have reported a rash of sightings — some confirmed, some not — of people dressed as clowns and acting in a disturbing manner. Cont.

Brexit Forces Descendants Of Jewish Refugees To Reclaim German Citizenship
Descendants of Jewish refugees who escaped Nazi persecution to settle in Britain before and during the Second World War now seek to reclaim German citizenship so they can remain a part of the post-war entity founded in a bid to ensure war would never again raise its head on the European continent.
It's one of the consequences of Britain's decision to end its membership in the European Union after a partnership of some 43 years.
"I stayed up all night watching the Brexit vote," says Thomas Harding, a London-born writer and historian. "Around 7 a.m., they announced [the referendum result] and I was really distressed. It felt like a real loss."
And so he went online to look into an old law that allows anyone stripped of their German citizenship by the Nazis "on political, racial or religious grounds" between the end of January 1933 and May 8, 1945, to reclaim it, including their descendants.
Harding's ancestors fled the Nazis in the 1930s. Cont.

Syrian Man Kills Woman, Wounding Two Others With Machete Outside Bus Station
Story out of Berlin, Germany:
A Syrian man killed a woman with a machete and wounded two others Sunday outside a bus station in the southwestern German city of Reutlingen before being arrested. Police said there were no indications pointing to terrorism.
Police spokesman Bjoern Reusch told The Associated Press that witnesses said the 21-year-old asylum-seeker, who was known to police, was having an argument with the woman before attacking her about 4:30 p.m. The suspect, whose name was not released, wounded another woman and a man as he fled.
Investigators were still trying to determine the motive behind the attack, but Reusch said "there are no indications this was a terrorist act."
The attack comes as Germany is on edge following a rampage at a Munich mall on Friday night by an 18-year-old who suffered psychological problems in which nine people were killed, and an axe attack on a train a week ago that left five wounded in southern Germany, for which the Islamic State has claimed responsibility. German Tourist Falls 130 Feet To His Death After Posing For Photo Atop Machu Picchu
Not to be mistaken for the cartoon character Machu Pikachu. Story out of Peru:
A German tourist has died while trying to take a photo atop Machu Picchu. The tourist, identified by the BBC and Peruvian media as 51-year-old Oliver Park, died Wednesday after slipping from a ledge and falling approximately 130 feet.
He was posing for a mid-leap photo when he fell off Machu Picchu mountain, which overlooks the ancient Incan citadel of the same name.
Peruvian officials said the tourist bypassed a security cordon and ventured into an off-limits area before tumbling to his death, El Comercio reported.
“He asked a man who was there to take a photo of him,” Guillermo Mestas, a Peruvian tourist, told television station Canal N. “The man came over to take the photo and in the moment he was handing him the camera, he lost his balance and fell.”
By the time rescuers reached the tourist about an hour and a half later, the man was dead, Mestas said. Cont.

German Opposition Leader Belted With Cake Over Immigrant Stance
Now the only question is, did a migrant bake the cake?
A German opposition leader has had a cake shoved in her face at a party meeting — an apparent protest against her position that not all refugees can come to Germany.
An activist threw the cake Saturday at Left Party parliamentary co-leader Sahra Wagenknecht in Magdeburg, the dpa news agency reported. A group calling itself "Anti-Fascist Initiative 'Cake for Misanthropists'" distributed flyers pointing to Wagenknecht's refugee comments as the motive.
Wagenknecht has highlighted limits to Germany's ability to take in migrants, saying that "not all refugees can come to Germany." That has put her at odds with others in her party. Cont.

Far-Right Violence Increasing In Germany
Don't tell me we're Goering through this again. It ain't Reich.
Violent crimes with a right-wing political motive rose more than 40 percent in Germany last year as the country saw a large influx of migrants, the government said Monday. The number of crimes committed by foreigners was also up more than 10 percent.
German authorities recorded 1,485 violent far-right crimes last year, up from 1,029 the previous year, according to annual crime statistics. As the number of homes for asylum-seekers swelled, so too did crimes targeting them, which more than quadrupled to 923. Acts of violence against those homes increased to 177 from 26 the previous year.
The Interior Ministry reported a large increase in the broader category of "hate crimes," offenses of a racist or anti-Semitic nature or targeting people because of their religion. They rose 77 percent to 10,373 from 5,858 the previous year. Cont.

Salon Forced To Remove Ad Against Far Right Extremism Featuring Hitler
A German salon has removed adverts featuring Adolf Hitler after prosecutors warned that it broke the law, despite the owner intending it to be an anti-extremism initiative.
The poster advertised hair removal at a salon in Cham, in the southern region of Bavaria, using Hitler's face alongside the slogan "Waxing against the Right", the BR public broadcaster reports. Little cards inside the salon used the same image with a strip across Hitler's top lip that could be ripped off, revealing the message: "1 x waxing = one-euro donation against the Right".
Owner Ursula Gresser tells BR: "The main thought was simply to nail my colours to the mast, at a time when refugee homes are being set on fire. If they [the far-right] can do that, why can't I hang a picture of Hitler on my door?" She adds that the act of "ripping off Hitler's moustache" struck her as a "perfect fit" for hair stylists. Cont.

Oldest Message In A Bottle Found On A Beach In Germany
A message in a bottle thrown into the sea 108 years ago by British scientists has been discovered washed up on a beach in Germany.
It is believed to be the oldest message-in-a-bottle ever found.
Marianne Winkler, a retired post office worker, found the message from the past while on holiday with her husband on the North Sea island of Amrum.
Written on a piece of paper inside were the words “Break the bottle”.
Inside they found a postcard with no date but a message promising a reward of a shilling to anyone who returned it.
The message, in English, German and Dutch, asked anyone who discovered the bottle to fill in some information on where and how they found it.
It turned out the bottle was one of 1,020 released into the North Sea between 1904 and 1906 by George Parker Bidder, a former president of the association. Cont.

Over 200 Men Attack Police In Germany After Soccer Game
How boring can your sport be that it creates this amount of pent up aggression? We're all lucky baseball fans just fall asleep. Story out of Cologne, Germany:
German authorities are investigating after up to 200 men attacked police at Cologne's main train station in what authorities called a "massive riot."
A spokesman for the federal police says fans of the German soccer club 1. FC Kaiserslautern threw fire extinguishers and metal bars at officers on Saturday afternoon, injuring two of them. Rail traffic was halted during the attack.
Police spokesman Jens Floeren said Sunday the attackers were traveling home from Duesseldorf, where Kaiserslautern had lost a match. Floeren said alcohol may have played a role but "one can assume that a large share of them were proper hooligans." Cont.

Fake Teeth Recalled After Concern Of People Not Being Able To Remove Them
Story out of Mainz, Germany:
Partygoers are being warned not to wear a brand of grotesque false teeth after a retailer discovered the product may be extremely hard to remove.
The Swiss-based Manor chain markets Rottin' Teeth as a "movie-quality" costume accessory, advertised with the slogan "stay put ... teeth will fit exactly in your mouth."
This catchphrase proved too true, however, and Manor was forced to issue a product recall after learning that users "might not be able to remove" them.
According to Swiss authorities, Manor informed officials in Basel that one person "was not able to remove the ... Rottin' Teeth independently," triggering the recall. Cont.

German Politician Sends Dozens Of Refugees To Angela Merkel's Door In Protest
Story out of Berlin, Germany:
An irate local politician in Germany's southern state of Bavaria has dispatched a bus filled with dozens of refugees on a 7-hour journey to Chancellor Angela Merkel's office in Berlin as a protest against her open-door refugee policy.
A spokesman for Peter Dreier from the southeastern town of Landshut confirmed to Reuters that 31 refugees were making the 550 kilometer trip to the capital and were likely arrive in the afternoon.
Dreier appeared to be acting on a threat he made to Merkel last year. Critical of her mantra that Germany can cope with the influx of migrants, he reportedly issued a warning to the chancellor in a phone call in October.
"If Germany is taking in 1 million refugees, mathematically that means 1,800 will come to my district. I will take them and if there are any more, I will send them to your office," Die Welt quoted Dreier as saying. Cont.
