'Time For A Tree And A Rope' - Texas Judge In Trouble For Racist Remarks

Story out of Burnet County, Texas:

The top elected official in Burnet County commented on Facebook that it is "time for a tree and a rope" in a post regarding the arrest of the man suspected of killing San Antonio police Det. Benjamin Marconi this weekend, according to a screenshot of the Facebook post.

The post is no longer on County Judge James Oakley's Facebook page, but a screenshot shows that the comment was posted from his personal Facebook account. Oakley did not immediately respond to requests for comment via Facebook and email Tuesday evening.

The blog PEC Truthwatch, run by Larry Landaker, who previously served on the Pedernales Electric Cooperative's board, blogged about Oakley's "tree and a rope" comment. Based on the time stamps in the image, the blog seems to use the same screenshot that Walker took.

"What Mr. Oakley suggested was racist," the blog post read. "A sitting County Judge in Texas has suggested that a black man accused of a crime ... should be lynched. ... There is no place on the PEC board of directors for an open racist. This is not political correctness. It is racism in its rawest form." Cont.

Twitter Apologizes For Allowing Neo-Nazi Ad To Get Through Their Automated System

Twitter's Chief Executive Jack Dorsey apologized on Thursday after the microblogging service let through an ad promoting a white supremacist group.

"We made a mistake here and we apologize. Our automated system allowed an ad promoting hate. Against our policy. We did a retro and fixed," Dorsey tweeted.

The ad titled "'New Article: The United States Was Founded as a White People's Republic' on NEW ORDER website" showed eight white children in a field. It was tweeted from an account with the handle "@NEW_ORDER_1488".

Twitter had suspended several accounts linked to the alt-right movement, USA Today reported on Wednesday.

The company, which has also been under criticism for not doing enough to thwart cyber bullying, said on Tuesday that it would upgrade some features to curb abusive behavior. Cont.

Police Continue To Investigate After Third Neo-Nazi Graffiti Incident In Ottawa

Story out of Ottawa, Ontario:

Ottawa police are investigating the third hate crime to occur this week after anti-Semitic graffiti was spray-painted on the side of a Jewish Modern Orthodox synagogue in south Ottawa.

Police were notified at around 7 a.m. ET Thursday after congregates spotted it at the Machzikei Hadas synagogue on Virginia Drive in the Alta Vista neighbourhood.

Two swastikas were spray-painted on its front doors and another was spray-painted on a nearby sign.

Security cameras also were spray-painted to prevent them from recording, and a number of offensive phrases were spray-painted on the synagogue's outside walls.

The graffiti comes just days after a swastika and the word "k---e" were spraypainted on the front door of a woman who runs a Jewish prayer centre in the Glebe.

Police say they're also investigating a graffiti incident at Ottawa's Torah Institute on Coldrey Avenue. Cont.

Ottawa Rabbi Suspects Trumpism For Swastika Spray Painted On Front Door

Story out of Ottawa, Ontario:

An Ottawa woman who runs a Jewish prayer centre says she was "stunned" to wake up in the middle of the night and discover someone had spray-painted a swastika and an anti-Semitic slur on the front door of her Glebe home.

"I went to bed a little later than usual and woke up in the middle of the night, around 2:30, and as I was walking back to my room coming down the hall I saw a reflection on my front door, which is a glass window door, that kind of startled me," said Maranta, who describes herself as a rabbi.

"I knew right away it was a swastika." The word "k--e" was spray-painted above it.

Maranta believes the election of president-elect Donald Trump could be related to the racist graffiti on her door.

"My first thought is that this is an example of what happens when you allow somebody who is in a position of power to speak openly racist, bigoted, misogynistic language and don't censor [it] in any way," Maranta said.

"It allows other people to express their feelings, to express their hatred, and to feel like they've been given permission to do so because no one has effectively silenced that."

Ottawa police are investigating. Cont.

Jewish Leaders Strongly Condemn The Hiring Of White Nationalist Steve Bannon As Adviser

And others remain silent. I'm pretty sure this falls under the whole "first they came for... and I said nothing. Just say'in.

Jewish leaders have condemned President-Elect Donald Trump’s decision to appoint Steve Bannon, his campaign chief and head of the racist, misogynist, anti-LGBTQ, antisemitic site Breitbart News, to a senior adviser and strategist role in the White House.

In addition to hiring Bannon—whose site once labeled conservative pundit Bill Kristol a “renegade Jew,” and called for the Confederate flag to be flown proudly in the days following the 2015 massacre at a black church in Charlestown—Trump also appointed Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus his chief of staff.

“It is a sad day when a man who presided over the premier website of the ‘alt-right’—a loose-knit group of white nationalists and unabashed anti-Semites and racists—is slated to be a senior staff member in the ‘people’s house,'” said Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt in a statement.

The ADL’s condemnation comes just weeks after it published a report on the antisemitic targeting of journalists during the 2016 presidential campaign. Of the 2.6 million antisemitic tweets sent last year, 19,253 were directed at Jewish journalists, the ADL found.

In sworn affidavits, Bannon’s ex-wife Mary Louise Piccard, who claimed he choked her, said he refused to send his twin daughters to an elite Los Angeles private school because too many “whiny brat” Jewish students were enrolled there. Bannon has denied this. The late Andrew Breitbart, the site’s namesake, reportedly called Bannon the “Leni Riefenstahl of the Tea Party movement,” referring to the German director and Nazi propagandist. Cont.

“KILL KILL KILL BLACKS” - Hate Message Not Immediately Reported After Being Found In Elementary School Washroom

Story out of Silver Spring, Maryland:

Some Montgomery County parents say they are outraged after days went by before they knew about racist graffiti in an elementary school bathroom.

Students discovered the graffiti on a wall in a boy's bathroom at Sligo Creek Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland, on Thursday, according to parents and school officials.

In the letter, Swift said a student reported the "racial slur" to a classroom teacher who "failed to report this information to the main office." A building service worker then saw the graffiti and removed it that evening.

"It is shocking. The teacher should have reported it and the kids should learn better," said resident Sybile Bayiha. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

Heil Trump - Church Vandalized With Swastikas, Anti-Gay Slurs

Story out of Bean Blossom, Indiana:

St. David's Episcopal Church in Bean Blossom was vandalized sometime Saturday night.

Vandals painted tags on the walls, depicting a swastika, an anti-gay slur and "Heil Trump."

The Rev. Kelsey Hutto, priest in charge at St. David's Episcopal Church, said she was disheartened after finding the graffiti on the walls of the church Sunday morning. But her next thought was more positive.

"Well, we must be doing something right," Hutto said she thought. "We stated one time that doing the right thing was not always the popular thing. We were targeted for a reason, and in our mind it was for a good reason."

Since Election Day, there have been more than 200 incidents of hateful harassment and intimidation across the country, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. And the rise in hate crimes since the election appears to be worse than what happened after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Richard Cohen, president of the Southern Poverty Law Center, told USA Today. Cont.

"We Just Cleared The White House Of Ni**ers" - Massachusetts Town Receives Threatening Messages

Story out of Natick, Massachusetts:

Minority residents of a small Massachusetts town have received death threats warning them to leave town in the wake of Donald Trump’s election.

A Natick man revealed on Facebook over the weekend that he had received multiple threatening letters that made reference to the president elect.

“WE HAVE JUST CLEARED THE WHITE HOUSE OFF N****RS!!!!” a handwritten note received on Nov. 10 said. “DO NOT BRING N****RS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD—YOU FUCK LATINOS NOW YOU FUCK N****RS. WE KILL THEM.”

The next day, the man received a second warning, but this time it was typed.

“This is a serious warning. Natick has a zero tolerance for black people,” the message advised. “We tolerated the latinos now you are going total black. This trash belong to Dorchester. We have reclaimed our country back by selecting Trump and you are messing up everything. Our kids and our pets are scared to death.” Cont. (Video)

Holocaust Scholar Suspended After Drawing Parallels Between Hitler And Trump's Rise To Power

If the goose stepping boot fits.

Story out of Mountain View, California:

A Mountain View High School history teacher is on paid leave after comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, in an effort to show students that the 2016 election is a reflection of the past.

Frank Navarro, a Holocaust scholar who has taught at Mountain View High School for 40 years, said the school’s principal and district superintendent asked him to leave Thursday, after a parent complained about the parallels he was drawing in his world studies class.

“This parent said that I had said Donald Trump was Hitler, but I would never say that,” Navarro told The Chronicle on Saturday. “That’s sloppy historical thinking.”

He did, however, point out the connections between Trump’s presidential campaign and Hitler’s rise to power: Both had promised to eject foreigners and make their countries “great again,” Navarro said.

But Principal Dave Grissom and Superintendent Jeff Harding feared that the lessons may have been inappropriate in the tempestuous aftermath of the election.

Two days later, a Mountain View High School alumnus started a Change.org petition, demanding that Grissom revoke Navarro’s leave and publicly apologize “for attempting to intimidate a respected educator.” Cont.

“You Should Probably Go Ahead And Be Afraid Now” - Neo-Nazis Target Hillary Supporters Online

The Daily Stormer, a Neo-Nazi website, published a list of dozens of Twitter users who expressed sadness over the election outcome on Wednesday, urging its readers to target and harass them to the point of suicide.

The frontpage of the white supremacist website shows a large photo of President-elect Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, meeting with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Vice President-elect Mike Pence. “You should probably go ahead and be afraid now,” writes Andrew Anglin, the website’s publisher. The post suggests it’s readers “can troll these people and definitely get some of them to kill themselves.”

Reports of hate-based violence against Hispanic people, Muslims and women continue to be documented around the country in the wake of  Trump’s victory in the polls on Tuesday.

Shaun King, writer for the New York Daily News, has been collecting and publishing on Twitter alleged incidents of intimidation and violence since Trump’s win. They include a group of middle school students in Royal Oak, Michigan chanting “Build that wall,” a reference to a wall Trump said he hopes will be built along the U.S.-Mexico border. King has also tweeted photos of pickup trucks in Brooksville, Florida covered in the words: "All Muslims are Terrorists," "Deport them All" and "I Hate Muslims." Cont.

Students Yell 'White Power' Through School Hallways, Celebrating Trump

Story out of York, Pennsylvania:

Police are investigating allegations of racially motivated incidents at the York County School of Technology, following a video that circulated on Facebook showing students carrying a Trump sign and someone heard saying “white power."

The video was shot Wednesday inside the school, located at 2179 S. Queen St., York Township, and administrators determined the identities of the students involved, according to York Area Regional Lt. Tobin Zech.

Three students have been disciplined, a school official said.

Following the video’s circulation the day after the presidential election, allegations of other incidents — students of color being spat on, racial slurs and a gun threat — surfaced on Facebook among students and parents.

Sandra Thompson, president of the York NAACP, said she'd been alerted to some of the social media posts and heard from several parents and community members.

"What's happening at (York Tech) is an example of what's happening across the county, state and nation," Thompson said. She's had reports of black people being harassed in Lancaster County and others being threatened at gas stations. Cont. (Video)

Americans Face Numerous Bigoted Attacks As They Face The Reality Of Having Their First Fascist Leader

A number of black, Hispanic and Muslim-Americans shared stories on Facebook Wednesday of racist encounters with individuals who invoked the name or rhetoric of Trump.

A woman in Saint Cloud, Minn., shared images from her former high school on Facebook Wednesday, which show graffiti with messages such as "whites only" and "white America," along with a string of anti-black slurs. The messages were also accompanied by Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again."

Another post on Facebook shows the name "Trump!" scrawled on the door to the Muslim Students Association's prayer room, at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. "Our campus is not immune to the bigotry that grips America," students wrote in a post on the association's Facebook page. "We are still here. We are not going anywhere."

A Florida woman said in a Facebook post Wednesday that several children yelled at her while she was out for a run, saying: "Go back to Africa!"

A man from Utah posted that he heard children in his son's kindergarten class teasing a boy for being Mexican, saying that he "will be going back to Mexico.

A teenage girl of Hispanic ancestry described her own experience at high school on Wednesday, the day after Trump's win. "I heard things like 'you're still here' in the halls," she wrote on Facebook. "I have never felt so embarrassed and angry in my life… This kid laughed even after being removed, yelling 'Trump 2016 build the wall' while walking through the office.

A Pennsylvania man described witnessing three white men harassing a woman while quoting Donald Trump's now-infamous 2005 recording. "When she walks past the group, one of the men yells grab her by the p----. One of the dudes literally then tried to touch the woman inappropriately," he wrote on Facebook. The man said he and three others "literally threw the 3 dudes off the subway" to protect the woman. Cont. (Video)

Greece's Golden Dawn Hails (Hiel) Trump Victory

Nov 9 Greece's far-right Golden Dawn party hailed Donald Trump's election as president of the United States, calling it a victory against "illegal immigration" and in favour of ethnically "clean" nations.

Golden Dawn, Greece's third-largest party, took its first seats in parliament in 2012 on a backlash against austerity policies in Greece, which has received three international bailouts since 2010.

"This was a victory for the forces which oppose globalisation, are fighting illegal migration and are in favour of clean ethnic states, in favour of self-sufficiency in the national economy," a spokesman of the party said in a post on YouTube. Cont.

"This Is Literally White Supremacy’s Last Stand In America" - Journalist Lets Loose During Election Coverage

The raw emotions of one Canadian news pundit covering the U.S. presidential election struck a chord with many on social media Tuesday night.

As it was becoming apparent Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was likely to win the White House, activist Danielle Moodie-Mills disagreed with a CBC anchor who speculated that Americans could not “accept a woman in that job.”

“I do not believe that this is people saying I couldn’t possibly have a woman in this role,” Moodie-Mills insisted. “This is so much bigger than that. This is about — and I will say it because I have literally nothing left to lose tonight — this is literally white supremacy’s last stand in America. This is it. This is what this looks like.”

“This was black people being pushed out of rallies. This was a young boy with cerebral palsy and having his wheelchair kicked,” she continued. “This is hatred on a level that we have not seen since Jim Crow.” Cont. (Video)

Former KKK Leader David Duke Celebrates Trump Victory

A former Ku Klux Klan leader – or 'grand wizard' – has suggested fascists had helped Donald Trump win the US presidential election.

David Duke, who once led the neo-Nazi, white-supermacist organisation, tweeted the claim on election night.

“This is one of the most exciting nights of my life,” Mr Duke wrote.

“Make no mistake about it, our people have played a huge role in electing Trump!”

During the election campaign, Mr Trump only hesitantly denounced Mr Duke and the KKK, but that did not deter the far-right politician. Cont.

"Merkel Must Go!" - Hundreds Of Neo-Nazis March In The Streets Of Berlin

It looks like this group needs a leader. Hey! Trump will be free in a day or two.

Story out of Berlin, Germany:

Hundreds of far-right protesters have marched through Berlin calling for Chancellor Angela Merkel to be removed from office.

Police accompanied the protest through the German capital’s former Jewish district, at one point forcibly removing a blockade staged by far-left counter-demonstrators.

The protest began at the city’s main train station, where speakers criticized the government’s decision to allow large numbers of migrants into Germany. A crowd of up to 500 people chanted slogans such as “Merkel must go!”

A Berlin police spokesman says the event passed “relatively peacefully” apart from a few attempts by counter-protesters to break through police lines. Winfrid Wenzel was unable to immediately say whether there had been any arrests or injuries. Cont.

Box Cutter Blades Attached To Trump/Pence Sign Draws Blood Of Volunteer

Story out of Plano, Texas:

The hostility between Trump and Clinton supporters has been escalating as election day nears. But Tuesday someone attached razor blades to a Trump-Pence sign, then used it to cover the official polling site sign at a polling location in Plano.

Just before sunrise at Collin County College a precinct official ordered the sign removed, and a volunteer who was taking it down cut their hands on the box cutter blades that were attached to the bottom of the sign.

The cuts were minor and the individual chose to treat the cuts himself and not seek medical attention. All campaign signs on the campus were inspected and any containing sharp objects were removed.

The incident was reported to campus police and the Texas rangers for investigation, and the sign has been seized by authorities. At this point no one has been questioned or arrested. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

Twitter Takes Down Neo-Nazi Account Trying To Trick Black Voters To Vote At Home

Robert McNees, a physics professor at Loyola University, was curiously scanning through the popular alt-right account @TheRickyVaughn when he came across a number of tweets apparently designed to spread misinformation about voting among African-American and Spanish-speaking citizens. The tweets told voters they could “avoid the line” and “vote from home” via text (which, to be clear, they can’t). They were photoshopped to look as if they’d been created by the Clinton campaign, down to the small-print “Paid for by Hillary for President 2016” disclaimer at the bottom.

McNees told BuzzFeed News he reported the tweet — a clear attempt to impersonate a campaign and disenfranchise voters.

The photoshopped campaign ads may violate FEC laws. They also appear to be in direct violation of Twitter’s policies, which state in part that “Twitter accounts portraying another person in a confusing or deceptive manner may be permanently suspended.” The tweets could also be in violation of Twitter’s spam rules.

After BuzzFeed News emailed Twitter for comment, @TheRickyVaughn’s offending tweets appear to have been taken down. Later, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey responded to BuzzFeed News via Twitter:

Progressive Klu Klux Klan Endorses Orange Man

Among the small number of American newspapers that have embraced Donald Trump’s campaign, there is one, in particular, that stands out.

It is called the Crusader — and it is one of the most prominent newspapers of the Ku Klux Klan.

The 12-page quarterly newspaper calls itself "The Political Voice of White Christian America!" and has a well-known white supremacist symbol on its front page. The latest edition includes articles about Jewish links to terrorism, black-on-white crime and a man who claims to be Bill Clinton’s illegitimate child. An article near the end of the paper says that Trump’s candidacy is "moving the dialogue forward."

Since the earliest days of his presidential bid, Trump has attracted the support of prominent white nationalists across the country, setting off fears that a dormant fringe faction of the GOP base — one steeped in xenophobic and white supremacist rhetoric — would be folded back into mainstream politics.

The Trump campaign sharply and swiftly criticized the article. "Mr. Trump and the campaign denounces hate in any form (except all the hate he spews himself), " the campaign said in a statement Tuesday evening. "This publication is repulsive and their views do not represent the tens of millions of Americans who are uniting behind our campaign." Cont.

Watch One Of Trump's Deplorables Chant "Jew-S-A!"

Story out of Phoenix, Arizona:

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway admonished a man who shouted "Jew-S-A!" at reporters at a Trump rally Saturday night and said she would have had him removed if she had seen it.

Asked by CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" Sunday whether she would call the man's conduct "deplorable," Conway said: "Yes, I would. His conduct is completely unacceptable and does not reflect our campaign or our candidate."

The word "deplorable" recalled Hillary Clinton's comment at a private fundraiser that half (all) of Trump's supporters fit into what she called a "basket of deplorables." After criticism, Clinton later said she should not have said "half" of his backers were deplorable. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)
