13-Year-Old Arrested After Asking Online Clown To Kill Teacher
Story out of Hampton, Georgia:
A Hampton teenager was arrested after asking a person posing as a clown on social media to kill a teacher at Davis Middle School, according to police.
On Sunday about 6:45 p.m., police received a call reporting threats being made over social media. Police found that a 13-year-old female contacted a social media account of a person posing as a clown and asked the person running the clown account to kill one of her teachers at Davis Middle School, police said.
The teen was arrested Sunday evening, police said.
The request came only a couple of days after social media threats involving clowns caused police to beef up security at schools in Newport News and Hampton. While police did not consider those threats credible, they increased patrols at the schools as a precaution.
Hampton police Lt. Jason Price said the difference between the teen's threat Sunday and the threats from the clown accounts on Friday was that those were vague, while the teen asked the clown account to kill a teacher she named at a specific time. Price did not specify the teacher's identity or the time the teen requested for the act to take place.
Detectives contacted the teacher to check on her safety and let her know of the threat, police said. Price said the time identified by the teen in her request had passed by 3:25 p.m. Monday without anything suspicious happening at the school. Cont.
