Woman Arrested For Plotting To Have Her Husband Killed For Insurance On Halloween Night
Life insurance eh? They might have gotten suspicious after the hitman showed up dressed as a Substandard Risk.
Story out of Spokane Valley, Washington:
A Washington State woman is accused of plotting to have a hit man kill her husband on Halloween night in order to collect his life insurance money.
Martie M. Soderberg, 39, was arrested Monday by Spokane Valley Sheriff’s detectives and charged with criminal solicitation to commit first-degree murder.
According to authorities, Soderberg had planned several hire-to-kill plots, one of which involved having her husband shot while the couple was trick-or-treating with their kids on Halloween night. (Isn't she lovely.)
Deputies said the the woman had recently reconnected with an old classmate over social media and asked him to carry out one of her alleged murder plots.
According to police, Soderberg told the friend that she could not leave her husband because she did not have the finances to make it on her own. But cashing in as the beneficiary on his life insurance policy would provide her with financial security.
Following the meeting, the friend approached police and agreed to help them gather more information. In follow-up meetings, the friend wore a recording device that allegedly captured Soderberg describing the specifics of her plot, including where to dispose of the weapon.
She is currently being held in Spokane County Jail on US $1-million bond. Cont.
