Story out of Sandston, Virginia:
A Sandston teen who spun the cylinder of a loaded revolver and put it to his head, pulling the trigger, during his 18th birthday party Sunday has died after shooting himself in the head.
The .38-caliber revolver only “clicked” after Austin Balcarcel pulled the trigger the first time.
“I know how to handle a gun,” Balcarcel told a friend, who told him to stop, immediately before placing the stolen revolver to his temple and pulling the trigger the second time, causing the gun to fire.
Mortally wounded, Balcarcel slumped to the floor of a detached garage where he and some friends had gathered to drink and smoke marijuana for his 18th birthday party, according to court documents filed in the case.
Balcarcel was rushed to VCU Medical Center, where he died two days later. Cont.
