Illegal Bow Hunters Try To Kill Dog
Story out of Eatonville, Washington:
On Sept. 22, someone shot Jr the dog, a 2-year-old rescue pup, with a hunting arrow and probably from close range.
"He got shot right through the chest," says his owner, Heidi Austin-Root. "Barely missed his jugular. It was definitely a kill shot."
The arrow clearly shows up in an X-ray.
Austin-Root believes elk poachers are to blame.
Junior and another family dog were in the private woods next to the sprawling Eatonville property. Austin-Root thinks the dogs were scaring away the elk. And that made the illegal bow hunters mad.
Vets say Junior is expected to make a full recovery, though he may have a limp.
His owners and the investigators with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife hope a $5,000 reward will help catch whoever is responsible. Cont. (Video)
