300 Knife Wielding Inmates Take Over English Prison For 6 Hours
Story out of Bedford, England:
Prison officers used stun grenades to end a six-hour riot after up to 300 inmates armed with knives rampaged through Bedford prison last night.
The specialist Tornado Team prison squad – assisted by riot police – stormed into the Victorian nick and blasted lags with terrifying “flashbang” explosives to restore order after inmates barricaded themselves inside.
Jubilant inmates jeered and celebrated on the gantries as the filmed themselves “taking control” of the wing – and posted the videos online using smuggled mobiles.
Police, ambulances and fire crews were on standby outside after the disturbance began around 5pm, when lags at the Category B jail reportedly smashed their way from A Wing to B Wing.
Another report claimed the riot began in overcrowded C Wing and spread out of control – as warders focused on shielding the sex offenders in another part of the jail.
Violence is understood to have erupted after inmates were told time outside of their cells – often called association time – was being cut. Cont.
