Abandoned Child At Bus Terminal Leads Police To Murdered Mother

Story out of New York City, New York:

Police have identified a person of interest in the possible homicide of a woman in Stamford, Ct., the same person who is also believed to have abandoned his 5-year-old daughter at the Port Authority Bus Terminal Monday, WABC 7 reported.

Port Authority police were called after commuters noticed the child unattended for an extended period Monday morning, the agency said.

The girl is believed to be the daughter of Elmer Gomez Ruono, 32, who is a person of interest in the death of his estranged wife. The woman's body was discovered at the Stamford apartment where she had just recently moved with the girl from Flemington, WNBC 4 reported.

Laura Bruhn, a spokeswoman for the Flemington-Raritan school district, said Tuesday morning that the girl was enrolled in the school district but is no longer. She declined to provide details on when the girl left the district or why. Cont.
