Man Kills Neighbour, Sets His House On Fire, Kills Himself

Story out of Springfield, Illinois:

Two of three people who were shot early today in Springfield Township have died, authorities said.

A man named Jimmie Pemberton allegedly shot (and killed) Susan Buchholz and (wounded) Daniel Bennett, set their house on fire, and then shot himself, authorities said.

Pemberton was pronounced dead at 8:13 p.m. at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, said Dr. James Patrick, Lucas County coroner.

Erma Oswalt of Countway Road said she witnessed the shooting, which she described as the culmination of an ongoing neighbor dispute between her live-in boyfriend and their neighbors.

Ms. Buckholz and Mr. Bennett were shot after they put their children on the bus. The suspect then set a house fire and shot himself, said Chief Deputy William Talbot. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)
