Funny how the FBI doesn't show up for these instances.
State Rep. John Bennett, a Sallisaw Republican seeking re-election next week, appeared to call for the execution of Hillary Clinton in a recent Facebook post.
Bennett wrote, “2 words … firing squad,” in a Tuesday night post that included a link to a conservative blog criticizing Clinton for the 2012 deaths of American officials in Benghazi.
In a text message to The Oklahoman, Bennett said his comments were intended to be sarcastic, but he also said he believed Clinton had committed treason, a crime punishable by death.
Bennett, a former marine, has drawn attention for derogatory statements against Muslims and hosting legislative hearings to highlight anti-Islamic views.
Bennett's Facebook page is filled with posts presenting the Islamic faith as violent. It also includes many anti-Clinton posts and his strong support for the Second Amendment and gun owner rights. Bennett's Facebook profile picture includes a family portrait where each member is holding a gun.
On Wednesday Bennett returned to Facebook to clarify his remarks, writing "I do not wish death on anyone."
But comments left on Bennett's post included support for Clinton's execution, including one comment stating "No firing squad, that would be too good. A public hanging would be well suited for her." Cont.
