Weatherman Arrested After Starting Forest Fire So He Could Become Famous Online For It's Coverage
Story out of Letcher County, Kentucky:
An aspiring weatherman in Kentucky was arrested after admitting to intentionally setting a forest fire in hopes of pursuing his dream, police said.
Johnny Mullins, 21, reportedly wanted to bring attention to his Facebook videos where he reported on the fire, police said.
He’s been charged with second-degree arson in connection with a blaze in Letcher County, according to police.
Mullins posted selfie videos on Facebook that were recorded in front of various fires, police said.
Mullins was charged earlier this week after he told police he started the fire "because he enjoyed the attention he got from the Facebook stuff,” police said.
"It's really too bad because he's not a bad kid — he's just misguided," said Jenkins Police Chief James Stephens. "He didn't realize how much danger he was putting other people in." Cont.

Daughter Of Olympian Shot Dead
Story out of Lexington, Kentucky:
Trinity Gay, 15, a rising star on the track team at Lafayette High School, and the daughter of Lexington native and Olympian Tyson Gay has died after a shooting at a Lexington restaurant.
The Fayette County Coroner says that Trinity Gay died from her injuries just before 5 a.m. Sunday.
WKYT talked to one of Trinity's friends, who was with her the night of the shooting.
"I just felt so bad because I just keep replaying her in my face 'you got to help me, god help me,' but there was nothing we could do. I was scared," Taylor MIddleton told WKYT's Sabirah Rayford.
Middleton says she was next to Trinity when she was shot. She says they were in the parking lot when the first round of shots were fired. She noticed Trinity had been shot, but they couldn't do anything at first. When the shots stopped, Middleton says some friends put Trinity Gay in the car and drove to the hospital.
"Trinity, like, leads against door and when she went lay against the door, she likes starts to fall asleep. So Lexi was like 'you got to get up, you got to get her up,' so I grab her and I start shaking her and I was like 'come on Trinity got to stay up, you got to stay up," Middleton described.
She says when they got to hospital, Trinity was not in good shape. She says they couldn't tell she had been shot in the neck. Middleton says its a hard memory to live with.
Fayette County Schools has activated their Crisis Team, and they will be at Lafeyette High School on Monday to help students and staff who need help dealing with the loss of Gay. Cont. (Video)

Daycare Being Monitored After "Smack For A Snack" Uncovered
Story out of Lexington, Kentucky:
A Lexington daycare is being monitored by state officials after an investigation into practices at the facility.
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) conducted an investigation at New Creation Childcare on Industry Road. The investigation, which is now complete, found several violations. One violation led to an employee being cited by police.
The report says two male staff members would play a "Smack for a Snack" game. The report says the only way school age children could get a yogurt is to allow the men to hit them with a stick on their leg and/or hand. State officials say at least two students had noticeable bruising. Lexington Police cited one staff member with second-degree assault.
Investigators say in another incident, the daycare's store-front window was shattered. The report says a female staff member said one child knocked another child into the window, breaking it.
During the investigation, the facility was placed under intermediate sanctions which called for increased monitoring of the daycare. The Division of Regulated Child Care is currently monitoring the facility to assure compliance with the intermediate sanctions agreement. Cont.

For The Second Time A Taco Bell Employee Refuses To Serve Cops
'Think Outside The Law,' or, 'Live Mas ass will eat elsewhere'. Story out of Louisville, Kentucky:
Police officers were not welcome at an Kentucky Taco Bell last week — the second time in a little over a month law-enforcement officers have been turned away at the chain.
Last Thursday, an employee refused to take the lunch orders of five Louisville Metro Police officers, reports The Courier-Journal. While the officers' orders were eventually taken, other employees were also hostile towards the police.
In July, a cashier at a Taco Bell in Phenix City was fired after turning away two sheriff's deputies because of their status as law-enforcement officers.
At the time, Taco Bell said the action is not a restaurant policy — nationally or locally — but instead the act of a single employee. (Taco Bell did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment on the most recent incident.) Cont.

Judge Outraged Over Defendant Not Wearing Pants
Story out of Louisville, Kentucky:
A female Metro Corrections inmate was brought to Jefferson District Court on Friday morning without a jumpsuit - and appearing to not be wearing pants - prompting a judge to call the jail and ask “what the hell is going on?”
An attorney for the woman told Judge Amber Wolf that the jail “refused to give her pants and any kind of hygiene products that she needed,” according to a video of the hearing from Friday morning.
The woman, who was in jail for not completing a diversion program on a 2014 shoplifting charge, said she had been in Metro Corrections for days without pants, despite repeated requests.
As the woman and her attorney looked on, Wolf took out her cell phone during the hearing and called to talk with Metro Corrections Director Mark Bolton, telling someone she wanted to ask him “why there is a female defendant standing in front of me with no pants on.”
Wolf asked court staff to find something to cover the woman with – “anything, I don’t care what it is.” Cont.

Woman Struck By Train Dies While Looking For Kentucky’s ‘Goatman’
The legend has it that the Pope Lick Monster will goat (get it?) people into climbing the bridge and has taken numerous lives over the years. It's amazing how morons keep a legend alive. Story out of Louisville, Kentucky:
By the time the young couple spotted the locomotive, bearing down the railroad trestle at over 30 miles an hour, they had no choice.
Facing an 8-story drop on either side, with no way to outrun the train to the trestle’s end, the pair’s only hope was to cling to the sides of the tracks. The engineer later told officials, as the Kentucky newspaper the Courier-Journal reports, that he blared his horn and tried to slow down. Though the man on the tracks managed to make the split-second dive to the edge, the train was traveling too fast for his companion — there simply wasn’t enough time.
The train fatally struck Roquel Bain, a 26-year-old from Dayton, Ohio. She fell, some 100 feet to the ground.
Bain and her boyfriend, whose name has not yet been released by authorities, had traveled to Kentucky for an innocent bit of thrill-seeking — a tour of Waverly Hills Sanatorium, a former tuberculosis clinic turned haunted house. While in Louisville, they caught wind of another occult story, one which they decided to investigate in the twilight hours before their tour: the Pope Lick Monster.
Also known as the Goatman or the Sheepman, the Pope Lick Monster isn’t an icon of North American cryptozoology, lacking the national recognition of furry giants Bigfoot and Sasquatch. Still, within the confines of the woods surrounding Louisville, the creature has accumulated a rich history of lore and legend. Cont.

Woman Shot In Back By 4-Year-Old After Bragging About Letting Child Shoot Guns
Story out of Jacksonville, Kentucky:
A gunshot fired from inside a pickup truck in Putnam County went through the driver’s back and out the front of her torso Tuesday afternoon. When a deputy asked the injured woman what happened, she said her 4-year-old son did it. Less than a day earlier, a Facebook post, which may belong to the victim, talked of letting a 4-year-old boy shoot targets.
The deputy noticed the woman behaving frantically inside the four-dour pickup truck at Florida 20 and Rowland Avenue just after 3 p.m. and he quickly realized she had been shot, Capt. Joseph Wells said.
The woman told the deputy her 4-year-old son accidentally shot her while he was sitting in the back seat.
A handgun was found on the floor in the back of the vehicle and there didn’t appear to be any bullet entry points on the exterior of the truck so Wells said the shot was most likely fired from inside. Cont.

Bill In Kentucky Would Require Men To Get Note From Wife Before He Can Get A Prescription For Viagra
Kentucky men would have to visit a doctor twice and have signed permission from their wives before obtaining a prescription for Viagra or other such drugs for erectile dysfunction, according to a bill filed by a state legislator Thursday.
Rep. Mary Lou Marzian, a Louisville Democrat, the sponsor of House Bill 396, said it is merely an effort to protect men's health and ensure they are informed about a drug with potentially dangerous side effects.
HB 396 also specifies that only married men may obtain the drug and requires "a man to make a sworn statement with his hand on a Bible that he will only use a prescription for a drug for erectile dysfunction when having sexual relations with his current spouse." Cont.

Kentucky Man Calls Judge "Punk Ass Ni**er" In Court Room
Story out of Louisville, KY:
After Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Olu Stevens revoked Adam Satterly's bond on drug charges Monday, Satterly shouted out a parting message as deputies took him into custody.
"Punk a-- ni--er," Satterly could be heard saying from a hallway just outside the courtroom, according to a video of the hearing.
That ended up costing him an additional 60 days in jail as Stevens found Satterly in contempt of court and rebuked him for using the racial slur.
It is at least the third time in the last year the issue of race has come up in Stevens' courtroom. Stevens, who is black, had stopped hearing cases for a few weeks in the wake of a scolding by Kentucky's chief justice and an ongoing investigation by the Judicial Conduct Commission over his comments alleging top prosecutor Tom Wine wants "all-white" juries.
And last February, Stevens came under fire for criticizing the victims of an armed robbery for "fostering" the views of their 5-year-old daughter. The parents said in court records that the daughter was still scared of black men after two had held the family at gunpoint.
"I'm offended by that. I'm deeply offended by that. That they would be victimized by an individual, and then express some kind of fear of all black men," Stevens said at the time. "I wonder if the perpetrator had been white, would they be in fear of white men? The answer would probably be 'no'." Cont. (Video)
