CVS Employees Lock Themselves In Safe Room After Black Man Asks For Cheese
This is such a fucked up story, I have to tell a white person joke:
Why can't white people jump? Inbreeding weakens the knees.
Story out of Richmond, Virginia:
What began as a spontaneous trip to the store ended up being one of the most bizarre experiences of Ricky Berry’s life.
Berry and his roommate said they walked into the CVS in Carytown and asked an employee if they sold sliced cheese. The worker kindly replied that they did not.
A few minutes later, the employee — all of the store employees, in fact — were nowhere to be found. Berry and his roommate, Philip Blackwell, said they were in the store with another customer for more than 30 minutes alone before an officer with the Richmond Police Department showed up.
As for the third customer who was as confused as the two roommates, Berry said, “he was in the store before we were actually. He had a bad tooth, all he wanted was some Orajel. That’s all he needed.”
“We were walking around trying to find an employee, and the cop himself ended up opening up the emergency door, which set the alarm off,” Berry explained. “A couple of minutes later, he got the call from the alarm company asking what was going on.”
So the officer joined in on the search for the missing employees. Berry recorded a video on his Snapchat account of what happened next.
“He was laughing with us because, like, this is how weird, apocalyptic movies start,” Berry said.
Eventually, the employees were found in the back of the store hiding in a locked room. After making a few calls, the officer told the customers they had to leave.
In one of the videos he recorded, Berry said, “We’re being kicked out because they were scared of us and hiding.”
Berry said the officer was kind and was just doing what he was told to do.
Multiple attempts to contact the store manager were denied, although a CVS spokesperson apologized and said the employee who called the police will be interviewed and possibly retrained. Cont.

Senator Freaks Out Over Birthday Cake Featuring Boobs, Purple Unicorn
But why smash the cake. Cake still cake. Sad face.
Story out of Louisiana:
When Louisiana state Sen. Karen Carter Peterson saw her colleague's birthday cake, she decided to take care of the offending dessert herself.
The senator walked into an area used as a break room at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge before a budget hearing Friday morning and saw a birthday cake for state Rep. Mark Abraham. On the box was a sign reading, "Happy Birthday Mark Abraham. He likes his cake and eats it too!!!!"
She told Mashable in a phone call Friday evening that she immediately noticed the bikini-shaped cake with candles coming out of the breasts and a purple unicorn tattoo above the panty line.
Carter said she approached Abraham about the dessert and traced back the cake as a gift from state Rep. Jack McFarland and his wife. She then told the birthday boy, "It's rather offensive," and continued to chew him out. "I said some language I’m not proud of using," the senator admitted. She said she apologized later for using harsh language.
The state senator said he told her to cover up the cake if she was uncomfortable with it, so Peterson went one step further and smashed the sign into the cake and then threw it away. She said that was when she went on a "Twitter storm" and posted about the misogynistic cake. Cont.

Trumpanzees Hilariously Boycott Starbucks By Buying $16 Coffee
Trump supporters are making a stand against Starbucks by spending money on coffee in the chain's shops and demanding baristas write "Trump" on their cups.
The movement — which comes to you by the hashtag #TrumpCup — accelerated Friday following an incident in a Miami branch of the coffee chain.
A white supporter of the President-elect was filmed earlier this week shouting at employees, complaining of racial discrimination and telling everyone in the store he voted Trump. The incident kicked off thanks to a delay in the making of his vanilla latte.
Trump supporters have had issues with Starbucks for some time. Some of the causes of anger have been the company's CEO Howard Schultz endorsing Clinton and the roll out of its less festive designs, which even triggered a call for a boycott from Trump himself.
On Thursday, a fan going by the name Baked Alaska on Twitter seized the moment to kick start Operation #TrumpCup, with two simple rules. First, go to Starbucks and tell them your name is Trump. Second, film the incident if they refuse to write "Trump" on the cup.
The idea of sticking it to Starbucks by giving them cash received mixed reviews. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

Calling Kim Jong Un "Kim Fatty The Third" Banned In China
Oh, you won't be calling him fatty for long:
Chinese websites are censoring "Kim Fatty the Third," a nickname widely used to disparage North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, after officials from his country reportedly conveyed their displeasure in a meeting with their Chinese counterparts.
Searches for the Chinese words "Jin San Pang" on the search engine Baidu and microblogging platform Weibo returned no results this week.
The nickname pokes fun at Kim's girth and his status as the third generation of the Kim family to rule the world's only hereditary communist dynasty. It's especially popular among young, irreverent Chinese who tend to look down on their country's would-be ally.
Relations between China and North Korea have been strained by the North's nuclear weapons program, which China has condemned along with South Korea, Japan, the United States and Russia. But Beijing continues to support the Kim regime with limited trade and diplomatic backing.
"Kim Fatty the Third" is such a widely used term in China that it is sometimes suggested by auto-complete algorithms on web portals such as Baidu, China's leading search engine. While searches for "Jin San Pang" returned no results this week, Baidu left untouched results for other versions of the nickname, such as "Kim Fat Fat Fat." Cont.
But there is hope for chunk butt:
North Korean researchers and medical scientists are boasting they have cured obesity, according to state media.
The North needs an additional 700,000 tons of food that it doesn’t have to feed its people this year, but the leadership is apparently unaffected by the growing the famine. Kim Jong-un has swelled to almost 300 pounds due to his love of wine and cheese.
The pill allows a person to lose weight without making lifestyle adjustments or exercising. “As it decreases the body-weight and the thickness of subcutaneous fat without applying any diet or exercise cure, the pill is believed to be superior to existing remedies of obesity or foreign pills or other means of treatment,” an article published by a state-media outlet read.
The problem with North Korean research is that the claims are rarely supported by published results, and there is no way for foreign experts to test them, NK News noted. Cont.

Man Sues Krispy Kreme For $5 Million Over Missing Fruit
This is no Mini lawsuit, I'm sure the company can poke Holes into the case and then just let it Fritter away. The claimant will walk away with a Glazed look on his face.
Story out of Los Angeles, California:
Jason Saidian, of Los Angeles, filed a suit in a U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Wednesday, accusing the popular donut chain of 'false and misleading business practices'.
He claims Krispy Kreme's 'Chocolate Iced Raspberry Filled,' 'Glazed Raspberry Filled,' 'Maple Bar,' and 'Glazed Blueberry Cake' products don't actually contain real raspberries, maple or blueberries but use 'nutritionally inferior ingredients.'
He claims that other Krispy Kreme products, such as the firm's Glazed Lemon Filled and Glazed Strawberry Filled doughnuts, do contain real fruit.
Stacy Pincus from Chicago filed papers in federal court claiming the company is engaged in false advertising and consumer fraud as it was making customers overpay for the hand-blended iced coffee, teas and other drinks because up to half of the product contains ice. Cont.

'We Don't Let Blacks Serve In Germany' - Chili's Restaurant Under Fire For Taking Food Away From Black War Vet
Story out of Cedar Hill, Texas:
U.S. Army veteran Ernest Walker started recording video when a manager at a Chili’s restaurant in Cedar Hill, Texas, questioned his military service and took away his food.
Like some other establishments around the country, Chili’s offered free meals to veterans and active military service members on Veterans Day. Walker wrote on his Facebook page that he was eating at Chili’s with his service dog, Barack, when an elderly customer wearing a Trump shirt came up to him. “He said he was in Germany, and that they did not let Blacks serve over there,” Walker wrote.
Soon after, Walker said the restaurant’s manager approached him and said that a fellow customer said Walker was “not a real soldier because [he] had [his] hat on indoors.” He asked to see identification, and continued to question Walker. Eventually, he took his food away, even though Walker showed him his military ID and discharge paperwork.
Walker posted the video, which has been viewed more than 350,000 times, to Facebook. He wrote that the incident made him feel “grossly offended, embarrassed, dehumanized.” On Friday, protesters organized outside the Chili’s restaurant to support Walker.
Walker told the Dallas Morning News that he felt the election had “changed the hearts” of people.
“I do believe that the election has changed the hearts and changed the motives of people so much so that he believed in his heart and mind after talking to the Trump supporter that I was stealing food,” Walker said.
Late Monday, Chili’s president Kelli Valade released a statement saying that the company had removed, though not fired, the manager who took away Walker’s food. The statement also said the restaurant chain had personally apologized to Walker.
Since Walker’s story made headlines, supporters created a GoFundMe page to buy dinner for the veteran. At the time of this writing, the page had surpassed its $100 goal and earned $350. Walker wrote on Facebook that he was honored someone would create a page for him, but wanted to raise money on behalf of his fellow service members.
“There are thousands of hungry Veterans that are Forgotten and Homeless,” he wrote. “So I challenge America to raise enough money to Feed A Million Soldiers.” Cont.

Student In Tennessee Suspended For Taking 6 Chicken Nuggets Instead Of 5
String him up. These petty teen thugs need to learn. You watch, next they'll be stealing water.
Story out of Knoxville, Tennessee:
Justice has been served for a Farragut High School student after his suspension for buying an extra chicken nugget in the lunch line was overturned.
Koller — a senior, Eagle Scout and the captain of the band's drum line — was suspended for theft of property after he took six chicken nuggets from the lunch line instead of the usual five, to his mother's outrage.
"How is it theft if he paid for it?" Koller's mother, Carrie Koller Waller, wrote in a Facebook post. "It's food. FOOD!!! Not weapons. Not drugs. Not alcohol. Not cheating on a test. ... I am shaking my head over this and not sure what to do. Laugh, punish, argue, dress him up as a nugget bandit, or let it go."
The suspension was rescinded on Tuesday morning after Waller sent a letter to several school administrators and spoke to Farragut Principal Ryan Siebe on the phone.
"I know it wasn't your intent to overcharge Carson and I know it was not my son's intent to steal an extra nugget from you," Waller wrote in the letter, which she posted to Facebook. "He was hungry. He took six total nuggets. He entered his number, and the cashier rang him up. The cashier then realized Carson had more food than what she calculated. He entered his number again and paid the additional charge. Everything on his tray was paid for prior to walking away. He was then asked for his name and told to sit in another area and speak to the principal." Cont.

Thief Leaves Apology Note After Stealing KitKat From Unlocked Car
He should have called the police to report a Kit-Nabbing.
Story out of Manhattan, Kansas:
A thief left an apology note for a K-State student after stealing a KitKat bar from his car.
K-State Freshman Hunter Jobbins says he left his car for just a few minutes on Sunday to take some things up to his dorm room but when he returned something was missing.
It wasn't his phone or even his wallet, instead it was a KitKat bar that Jobbins left in his cupholder.
The thief had taken the candy bar but also left something behind -- an apology note scribbled on a napkin.
The note read, "Saw Kit Kat in your cup holder. I love Kit Kats so I checked your door and it was unlocked. Did not take anything other than the Kit-Kat. I am sorry and hungry."
Jobbins said he wasn't upset after reading the note and realizing the KitKat was the only thing missing from his car. Jobbins said he decided to share the note with his friends on twitter.
Shortly after sharing the note, the tweet went viral being shared and liked hundreds of thousands of times. Cont.

Woman Files $2 Million Lawsuit After Wonton Soup Puts Her In Coma
Story out of Calgary, Alberta:
A woman has filed a $2 million lawsuit claiming she was left in a coma after eating wonton soup at a Calgary restaurant.
Nicole Laurin says nearly two years ago she grabbed dinner with her husband Dwayne, something they did on an almost daily basis.
But she says something didn’t sit right, thinking she may have had food poisoning.
The last thing Laurin remembered after dinner was it was Halloween night before she went to bed early.
“I remember waking up in the hospital with a respirator and my sister and my whole family were there, I didn’t know what happened but then they asked me and they started telling me that I was sleeping for five or six days. I can’t remember.”
Nicole said she was in a coma for nearly a week and needed dialysis.
The restaurant in question, Saigon Bistro on MacLeod Trail, is still open and Alberta Health Services has not received any complaints about the food, nor did it get any reports of illness at the time of the alleged incident.
During routine inspections of the restaurant earlier this year, AHS noted ‘mouse droppings throughout the facility and on top of the dishwasher.’ Cont. (Video)

"What if Donald said, 'Grab her by the taco'" - Mexican Food Chain La Carnita Apologizes After Horrific Message On Their Menus
The Mexican street-food chain La Carnita issued an apology Tuesday after an Instagram post inspired by Donald Trump set off a firestorm of tweets calling for a boycott of the restaurant and a donation to sexual assault support services.
The original post has since been removed.
But it capitalized on some of the controversy surrounding the U.S. Republican presidential candidate this week with the caption, "What if Donald said, 'Grab her by the taco'..." beneath some of the restaurant's menu items.
Reaction was swift.
"Right so: never eating at La Carnita again," Globe and Mail columnist Denise Balkissoon tweeted.
Others quickly added their name to the boycott.
"Cost yourself this taco-loving customer," Laura Reinholz tweeted. "Given media coverage, you can't plead ignorance, your 'mistake' was epically distasteful."
The four-restaurant chain issued a three-tweet apology Tuesday night after removing the post.
"Tonight, we made a mistake. A big one. We used a caption that was dumb, rude, and insensitive."
— @la_carnita
"Part 2. Once we realized our error, we quickly removed it. For anyone who saw it, know that we understand your anger" — @la_carnita
"Part 3. and fully realize why it was inappropriate. We truly apologize. We can do better, and we will.
Love, la carnita." — @la_carnita
La Carnita is also making changes internally by implementing mandatory sensitivity training for its managers.
"Our company is made up of 50 per cent women and that said, we want to take steps to re-evaluate how we conduct ourselves," Richmond said. Cont.

Man Helps Homeless Woman After Witnessing McDonald's Refuse Her Cup Of Hot Water
Story out of Cardiff, Wales:
A McDonald’s customer claims he was so upset at seeing a homeless woman being refused a cup of water that he invited her into his home to eat and wash.
Jonathon Pengelly wrote on Facebook how he allegedly witnessed one of the fast food giant's employees turning down a request for some hot water.
He was on a night out at the time and said he was left 'heartbroken' by what he saw as the denial of a 'basic human right'.
Posting on the social media site, Mr Pengelly, from Cardiff, wrote: 'I finished my night out, ended up in the dreaded McDonald's queue.
'I couldn't help but notice the lady in front me, all she asked for was a cup of hot water. The member of staff told her "no".
'I don't know what was going through their mind but a lady, clearly homeless was asking for a basic human right; and for a multi billion pound company, for them to say no is disgusting!'
He added: 'My heart was shattered! So I spoke to her and told her to order what she wanted, expecting her to order everything. I was so shocked. She asked for a single cheese burger and that was it. We bought as much as we could carry so I knew she wasn't going to be hungry.
'I couldn't just leave this lady go, she was so warming and so lovely. So I sat with her, on the cold hard floor, in the middle of winter and you know what I did? I cried my eyes out.'
He then claims that passers-by 'laughed' at the homeless woman (well it is the UK), called Polly, as the pair sat in the street.
Mr Pengelly said: 'I invited Polly and her mate back to my house and we all cooked enough food to feed them and their friends for the next few nights. We boxed them up and packed them in their bags.
Mr Pengelly's post has now been shared more than 30,000 times, with him earning plenty of praise from Facebook posters for his good deed.
He signed off by writing: 'It costs nothing to be kind, and I genuinely hope people share this to raise awareness of homelessness throughout the UK! Cont.

"Skittles Are Candy. Refugees Are People" - Skittles Fire Back After Trump Jr. Tweets White Nationalist Meme
Of course lost on Trump's accident of a son is that White Supremacists are a bigger threat to US safety than crazed Muslim Terrorists.
If you're keeping score, it's not by much, but just the fact that Trump has unleashed an entity that outdoes Jihadists has made the landscape of America resemble Europe more than any place else these days.
Candy maker Skittles was left sour Monday after being pulled into the mire of the 2016 presidential race by Donald Trump Jr.
The Republican presidential nominee's son tweeted an image Monday that used the popular rainbow-colored candy to make a policy argument against admitting refugees into the United States.
"If I had a bowl of skittles and I told you just three would kill you. Would you take a handful," the image read. Trump added his own commentary on the message, tweeting, "This image says it all. Let's end the politically correct agenda that doesn't put America first. #trump2016."
Skittles parent company Wrigley Americas distanced itself from the tweet with a terse response opposing Trump Jr.'s premise.
"Skittles are candy. Refugees are people. We don't feel it's an appropriate analogy," Vice President of Corporate Affairs Denise Young said in the statement. "We will respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing." Cont. (Video)

For The Second Time A Taco Bell Employee Refuses To Serve Cops
'Think Outside The Law,' or, 'Live Mas ass will eat elsewhere'. Story out of Louisville, Kentucky:
Police officers were not welcome at an Kentucky Taco Bell last week — the second time in a little over a month law-enforcement officers have been turned away at the chain.
Last Thursday, an employee refused to take the lunch orders of five Louisville Metro Police officers, reports The Courier-Journal. While the officers' orders were eventually taken, other employees were also hostile towards the police.
In July, a cashier at a Taco Bell in Phenix City was fired after turning away two sheriff's deputies because of their status as law-enforcement officers.
At the time, Taco Bell said the action is not a restaurant policy — nationally or locally — but instead the act of a single employee. (Taco Bell did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment on the most recent incident.) Cont.

Hungry Inmate In US Using Ramen Noodles As Currency
Ramen noodles are familiar to most Americans for their low cost, long shelf-life and dose of salty calories.
Now the instant noodle dish has taken on another role: as the unofficial currency of choice inside the U.S. prison system. That’s according to research from Michael Gibson-Light, a doctoral candidate in the University of Arizona School of Sociology, who spent a year researching labor within a male state prison with more than 5,000 inmates.
One surprising finding, he wrote, was “the role of ramen noodles” as money.
While tobacco products have long served as the de facto informal currency of the prison system, cigarettes are now relegated below the value of ramen noodles. The main reason appears to be cutbacks in meal spending as prisons seek to control costs by privatizing services such as food and health care. That has resulted in smaller rations and poorer food quality, which leads some prisoners to seek out ramen as a way to supplement their diets.
This also creates a dark side to ramen: Inmates who don’t pay up. Some of them enter protective custody Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

Humourless Trump Supporters Flood Restaurant With Fake Reviews Over Silly Sandwich

Drunken Thief Leaves Candy Wrappers Trail To His Location
After a Bounty was placed on him, his bail was probably set at a 100 Grand. What a Zero. Story out of Barrie, Ontario:
Police say a candy wrapper trail led them to the arrest of an intoxicated 30-year-old theft suspect who was “passed out in the grass” in a Barrie, Ont. park after a convenience store robbery.
Barrie police responded to a report of a theft at a Mac’s Convenience store on Sunday.
Police said an employee told them the suspect had entered the store, gathered “many candy items” and attempted to leave without paying.
Investigators were allegedly able to locate the man at nearby Bayview Park, after following a “trail of candy wrappers left behind.”
“He literally unwrapped a couple of chocolate bars while he was doing it and then lay down in the park for a little rest after enjoying his tummy full of candy,” said Const. Nicole Rodgers. Cont.

"It Would Take A Sociopath To Do Something Like This" - Vandals Smear Peanut Butter On Playground Equipment In Toronto
Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
Concerned parents in the west end were sharing an allergy warning across social media groups afternoon after discovering the Dufferin Grove Park play structure covered in peanut butter.
“It was everywhere. All over the hand railings... on the ladder, all over the swings, all over the slides,” said Sarah Bolton, who was at the park with her son Lewis, 2, at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when she noticed the mess.
“It’s just a really scary situation. It would have to take a sociopath to do something like this,” said Bolton, who alerted a few neighbourhood groups on Facebook.
According to Eat Right Ontario, an allergic reaction can happen within minutes or up to several hours after contact with peanuts and symptoms vary from person to person. The most serious form of the allergy is called anaphylaxis, which requires immediate attention and can be life threatening.
Any vandalism of playgrounds is a serious concern for the city, said Matthew Cutler, a spokesperson for Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation. Especially “given the known issues with peanuts and the risk of anaphylaxis in some children, this vandalism even more concerning,” he said, but an investigation of this issue would be the responsibility of Toronto police.
