After Playing Grand Theft Auto 11-Year-Old Leads Police On High Speed Chase
I dread to think what the kid's going to do once he's introduced to Trevor.
Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
An 11-year-old boy was caught driving his parent’s vehicle after playing a video game and wanting to see what driving a real vehicle would be like.
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said they received multiple calls for a vehicle being driven erratically on Highway 400 on Saturday night just before midnight.
“Drivers called it in thinking it was an impaired driver because the vehicle was all over the highway,” Sgt. Schmidt said.
Police pursued the vehicle but the driver refused to pull over, instead travelling at half the speed limit before accelerating to well over the limit.
Police eventually managed to pull the vehicle over without incident.
Schmidt said the boy was returned to his parents custody. Cont.

'It Was Getting Out Of Control' - Trumpanzees Target Wrong Hamilton On Twitter
Story out of Hamilton, Ontario:
After Donald Trump launched a Twitter broadside against the Broadway show "Hamilton," many of his supporters went on the offensive, too.
But some of them targeted the wrong Hamilton.
Their misdirected anger caused quite a surprise for Riane Leonard, who runs the Twitter account for Hamilton Theatre Inc., a small musical theater company in the Canadian province of Ontario.
When she noticed notifications popping up in the theater's Twitter account over the weekend, she initially thought it was people who had seen the company's current show, "The Toxic Avenger," on Friday night.
The real reason for the Trump supporters' ire was the message delivered by a cast member of "Hamilton" to Vice President-elect Mike Pence who attended the Broadway production Friday night. Actor Brandon Dixon told Pence that the cast hoped "this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us."
Leonard said that as she read through Twitter, she gradually pieced together the source of the confusion.
"These angry Americans had tagged us by mistake," she said. "But by this point, some of them were liking and retweeting. There was really no way of stopping them or correcting them. It was getting a little bit out of control."
The notifications clogging the Canadian theater's Twitter feed eventually turned from negative to positive after Canadian news organization CBC picked up the story. Suddenly, a new crowd of Twitter users were speaking out in favor of the little theater company.
"We've just gotten a massive outpouring of support from people -- not just in Hamilton, in America," Leonard said. "It's been so overwhelming." Cont.

"It Was Comical" - Pregnant Woman Kicked Off Plane For Being Too Heavy
Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
A pregnant woman and her fiancé couldn’t board a flight from Toronto to Quebec City last month after Porter Airlines staff said the flight was overweight and the couple weren’t welcome.
Annette Bice and Geoff Hotrum were leaving for a final romantic weekend away before the birth of their first child, expected in December.
“It was comical, hard to believe, we thought: are you kidding?” said Hotrum.
Porter flight 513 was delayed more than half an hour as Porter staff started asking confirmed passengers in the lounge if they would volunteer not to fly, said Hotrum. It was explained to passengers that weather conditions on the route made it necessary to lessen the plane’s weight.
But when an insufficient number of passengers agreed to postpone their travel, Porter staff began calling out names, including the couple’s.
“You’re kicking off the pregnant woman,” Hotrum recalled asking the attendant at the time.
Faced with postponing until two days later because of Porter’s limited Quebec flight schedule, the couple reluctantly agreed to take a flight to Montreal, rent a car and drive to Quebec City to salvage their vacation.
Porter offered to pay for the cost of the car rental and meals, and gave the couple flight vouchers worth $1150. Cont. (Video)

Police Continue To Investigate After Third Neo-Nazi Graffiti Incident In Ottawa
Story out of Ottawa, Ontario:
Ottawa police are investigating the third hate crime to occur this week after anti-Semitic graffiti was spray-painted on the side of a Jewish Modern Orthodox synagogue in south Ottawa.
Police were notified at around 7 a.m. ET Thursday after congregates spotted it at the Machzikei Hadas synagogue on Virginia Drive in the Alta Vista neighbourhood.
Two swastikas were spray-painted on its front doors and another was spray-painted on a nearby sign.
Security cameras also were spray-painted to prevent them from recording, and a number of offensive phrases were spray-painted on the synagogue's outside walls.
The graffiti comes just days after a swastika and the word "k---e" were spraypainted on the front door of a woman who runs a Jewish prayer centre in the Glebe.
Police say they're also investigating a graffiti incident at Ottawa's Torah Institute on Coldrey Avenue. Cont.

Ottawa Rabbi Suspects Trumpism For Swastika Spray Painted On Front Door
Story out of Ottawa, Ontario:
An Ottawa woman who runs a Jewish prayer centre says she was "stunned" to wake up in the middle of the night and discover someone had spray-painted a swastika and an anti-Semitic slur on the front door of her Glebe home.
"I went to bed a little later than usual and woke up in the middle of the night, around 2:30, and as I was walking back to my room coming down the hall I saw a reflection on my front door, which is a glass window door, that kind of startled me," said Maranta, who describes herself as a rabbi.
"I knew right away it was a swastika." The word "k--e" was spray-painted above it.
Maranta believes the election of president-elect Donald Trump could be related to the racist graffiti on her door.
"My first thought is that this is an example of what happens when you allow somebody who is in a position of power to speak openly racist, bigoted, misogynistic language and don't censor [it] in any way," Maranta said.
"It allows other people to express their feelings, to express their hatred, and to feel like they've been given permission to do so because no one has effectively silenced that."
Ottawa police are investigating. Cont.

Man Found Guilty Of Smuggling $165,000 Worth Of Gold Pucks Up His Applebottom
God, this story is so Canadian. He keeps setting off the metal detectors and they continue to let him through.
I'm just glad he didn't try to cram them all up there at the same time.
Story out of Ottawa, Ontario:
A former Royal Canadian Mint employee has been found guilty of smuggling $165,000 worth of gold from the building on Sussex Drive — apparently in his rectum, an Ottawa judge ruled Wednesday morning.
Leston Lawrence "clearly had the opportunity" to steal the gold because he often worked alone and the security cameras would not have caught him slipping gold pucks into his pocket, Justice Peter Doody ruled.
"His locker contained Vaseline and latex gloves, which could have been used to insert a puck into his rectum," he ruled, adding that there were no cameras in the locker room.
Lawrence set off the mint's walk-through metal detectors more than any other employee without a metal implant — 28 times between December 2014 and March 2015, court heard. But when a secondary check with handheld detectors failed to alert guards to the gold, Lawrence was able to leave with it each time, Doody found.
Though there was no video evidence of Lawrence stealing the gold from the mint, Lawrence was found guilty of the theft of 22 gold "pucks" worth $165,000, and laundering 18 of them via Ottawa Gold Buyers.
Experts analyzed the gold pucks, and found that they matched the purity of gold at the mint (albeit a little ripe). The pucks were identical in diameter to those produced at the mint, and fit (ha) the ladle used exclusively by the mint perfectly, Doody's decision detailed. Cont.

American Man Celebrating A Bachelor Party Beaten To Death In Toronto In Unprovoked Attack
Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
An American man was beaten to death in Toronto early Saturday morning in what police say seems to be a “completely unprovoked” attack.
The 24-year-old man was in Toronto with a group of men, all from the U.S., celebrating a bachelor party in a bar named Blind Tiger in the city’s Little Italy neighbourhood. The group left the bar and were confronted by seven to nine males outside and, according to police, were egged into a fight at about 2:25 a.m.
“They advised they didn’t want to be in a fight and were just having a good time but at that time our deceased was punched and repeatedly kicked in the head,” said Det. Rob North on Saturday morning.
According to North, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends of the victim told CTV Toronto he was from Maryland and was engaged to be married.
Police are working to notify the victim’s next-of-kin but have said that at least one of the men in the bachelor party was a member of the U.S. armed forces. Cont. (Video)

University Of Toronto Professor Who Rallies Against "SJWs" Has Door Glued Shut
It's funny until you realize that morons like this encourage internet trolls to get violent over their made up culture wars. It seems to be a new wave of conservatism and it's just weird.
Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
University of Toronto Professor Jordan Peterson claims he's made far more friends than enemies in the weeks since he waged a war on political correctness, but that didn't stop someone from allegedly gluing his office door shut.
On Saturday, Peterson, a psychology prof who refuses to recognize non-binary gender pronouns, tweeted "Some SJW filled my U Toronto office door lock with glue. Made it difficult to see clinical clients. Another step towards a better world."
He told VICE he had to cancel his weekend appointments because of the "incident."
"That's exactly the kind of tactic I would expect of the people trying to deprive me of my job and reputation," he said, slamming "social justice warriors" as people who will do whatever is necessary to "enforce their view of the world."
Since the media caught wind of the video, Peterson has received considerable support and backlash. A letter signed by U of T admin, including the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science advised Peterson that he was trampling on the human rights of trans and genderqueer students by refusing to acknowledge their preferred pronouns.
Asked how he responded to charges that his words have resulted in threats of violence against LGBTQ and black students, Peterson said it's "absurd" to hold him responsible. He also chalked up the talk of threats to "part of the politically correct game."
But Cassandra Williams, vice president of student affairs at the University of Toronto Students' Union, previously told VICE some of Peterson's supporters have contacted family members of trans students, making them feel unsafe. Cont.

"If You Are Gay Don't Approch (sic) Me. I'll Kill You" - Man Could Face Legal Trouble For Wearing Anti-LGBT Shirt At Kid Friendly Event
A couple of things:
1. Of course a bigot would wear that to a kid friendly event.
2. Of course a bigot would get the spelling of a simple word wrong.
3. I'm guessing every meeting this group has ends with oral sex, and I don't see any women.
Story out of Munster, Ontario:
A Quebec man has sparked a wave of condemnation after a picture of him, in public, wearing a shirt with a slogan that may border on hate speech was posted online.
Julien Clement is clear about how he feels about people who are a gay and he isn’t afraid to share that view with the public.
“I hate gays for real,” the 18-year-old said in a French-language interview with CTV Ottawa.
On Saturday, at Saunders Farm, an outdoor attraction located in Munster, Ont. that features kid-friendly events and festivals, Clement wore a shirt with a slogan that read: “If you are gay don’t approch me. I’ll kill you (sic).”
“Approach” is misspelled on the shirt.
Whitney Martin, who was also at Saunders Farm that day, was sitting near Clement in the farm’s tavern when she saw the shirt. Appalled, she immediately notified staff at the farm.
Ottawa police confirm they’re investigating the incident as well as some of the Facebook comments about it.
But criminal defence lawyer Paul Lewandowski says charges could be possible, as the shirt’s message relates to an identifiable group, in this case people who are homosexual. Cont.

"I Felt Humiliated" - Woman Shocked When Uber Driver Suggested She Pay Her Fare With Oral Sex
Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
A Toronto woman says her Uber driver falsely told her payment wouldn't go through if her phone had died, and offered to accept sexual favours in lieu.
Erika Szabo, 28, was hoping for a relaxing ride home from a speaking engagement at the Unplugged Expo downtown Sunday night when she booked with Uber as part of her frequent use of the service.
After getting into the vehicle, the video producer told her driver that her phone had died.
Szabo alleges the male driver told her the payment wouldn't go through if her phone wasn't on. Believing that was true, she said, she asked to get out of the car, but he kept driving.
On the highway, he allegedly offered her two deals: give him oral sex or show him her breasts. "I thought it was a sick joke or something," Szabo said.
He said Szabo owed him for his service, she said, also recalling him saying it was "no big deal."
Szabo said she repeatedly told him "no," and asked him to pull over. He ignored her and proposed a third deal. This time, she said, he offered to pay her for oral sex.
She bolted out of the car and into her west-end apartment once they arrived.
"I was so upset. I felt humiliated. I felt helpless," she said. "It was really scary to be a victim like that."
After plugging her phone in, she realized the payment did go through. She alerted Uber about the incident through the driver feedback section of the app.
The next morning, Szabo filed a sexual harassment report with police and a formal complaint with Uber. Cont.

Senior Citizen Murders Fellow Retirement Home Resident After Claiming 'Spirit' Told Him To Do It

Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
A Toronto senior on trial for murder told a court on Tuesday that a spirit in a dream told him to “beat the crap” out of two fellow residents at a long-term care home, insisting he hadn’t actually intended to harm anyone.
Peter Brooks, now 76, has pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder of 72-year-old Jocelyn Dickson and the attempted murder of 91-year-old Lourdes Missier.
Crown prosecutors have told jurors that late one night in March 2013, Brooks used his cane to attack Dickson and Missier in their beds at the Wexford Residence in Toronto’s east end.
Taking the witness stand in his own defence, Brooks’ testimony was contradictory at times, but he said repeatedly that he had acted on the bidding of a dream.
“The spirit told me to go and beat the crap out of them,” he said “I am an obedient old man. I did use my walking stick and I beat them up.” Cont.

Actress and UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson says meeting Sophie Grégoire Trudeau during a recent trip to Ottawa was “a highlight of my year.”
Watson was in the nation’s capital in late September to discuss women’s issues with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and promote her “He For She” campaign. Trudeau has agreed to become an ambassador for the UN-backed project, which aims to get men involved in the global fight for gender equality.

Exotic Animal Smugglers Caught Bringing Snakes Into Canada Hidden In Socks
I have had it with these mother fu*king snakes, in these mother fu*king socks, on this mother fu*king plane.
Officers had been watching the shore of the St. Lawrence River near Cornwall, Ont., from outside a nearby church for most of the day when the boat carrying the contraband finally arrived.
On the other side of the river, a U.S. border control helicopter had hovered in wait to follow it across, but then taken off when the vessel dawdled to avoid tipping off its operators. But now the boat was here, and the van they were monitoring pulled up to the river bank.
In a matter of minutes, a woman on the boat unloaded three boxes that were soon placed in the van by a man.
That was the cue. As they swooped in on the stunned smugglers -- prompting the woman to nosedive onto the boat and sail away -- the officers seized the boxes.
Inside were 205 reptiles, among them Chinese striped turtles, African side neck turtles, South American red-footed tortoises, a serrated hinge-back tortoise, green iguanas and Jackson's chameleons.
And many, if not all of them, were bound for pet stores, according to Environment Canada, which led the investigation and laid charges against the man and some of his associates.
Animals such as chameleons, parrots, monkeys and tigers are prized as pets precisely because they are not native to Canada, and often because they are rare or unusual, experts say.
Some are bred by owners already on Canadian soil -- at times discreetly, for more uncommon or potentially dangerous animals -- but others are snatched from their natural habitats and snuck across borders under car seats, in shipping containers with false bottoms, and even in the mail, often leaving the creatures in dire health or worse, they say.
Reptiles, experts say, are common contraband. In one notorious case, a Waterloo, Ont., man was caught smuggling dozens of turtles in his pants (is that a turtle in your pants, or?) and is now serving a 57-month sentence in an American prison. Cont.

Man Falls Into Boiling Hot Tar, Survives
Boiling Hot Tar would make a great band name.
I typed it into google... god damn ISIS.
Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
A man is in life-threatening condition after being encased in hot tar that solidified during an industrial accident in Toronto on Monday morning.
Rescuers worked for more than an hour to free the man after the incident, which occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m., according to police.
Const. Clint Stibbe said the truck that was carrying a vat of hot, liquid tar, came to a sudden stop in the city's east end after the driver noticed a boom attached to the vehicle fell to the road.
There were three men in the back, Stibbe said, when the abrupt stop caused the tar, which was kept around 200 Celsius, to spill onto one of the men, trapping him inside.
"When (the tar) came out of the reservoir it went all around and when tar is exposed to the air, it hardened very quickly," Toronto Fire Services platoon chief Dave Denysek told reporters at the scene.
He said firefighters had to slice away part of the truck before slowly cutting hardened tar in small pieces away from the man's body.
The man wasn't wearing protective clothing at the time, Stibbe said, but credited his clothing for partial protection.
"The victim suffered serious burns to his head and arms," and is in the burn unit of a local trauma centre, said Evert Steenge of Toronto Paramedic Services. Cont.

He said the child will be OK after being taken to hospital for examination.
Hopkinson said police are trying to determine if the pills were purposefully placed or if the medication accidentally fell out. Cont.

WestJet Flight Grounded After Escaped Iguanas Waddle Around Loose
Creepy, I don't iguana even think about this.
Story out of Toronto, Ontario:
A WestJet flight was grounded in Toronto after customs officers determined there were iguanas loose in the aircraft.
WestJet spokesperson Lauren Stewart says a passenger on a flight from Cuba to Toronto was discovered to be carrying iguanas in his checked luggage.
Stewart says the passenger had hidden four iguanas in his luggage but when they were discovered by customs officers in Toronto, only two of the lizards were in the suitcase.
The flight crews were notified and the plane was stopped in order to have the cargo hold fumigated to prevent the escaped lizards from chewing through wires or damaging the aircraft.
Stewart says the aircraft couldn’t fly on to Vancouver due to the delay, but passengers were transferred to another plane that left 50 minutes later. Cont.
