YouTuber Convinced Rubes To Drill Into Their iPhone 7 To Create Headphone Jack

                  

A video claiming that users can add a headphone socket to the iPhone 7, which only has a Lightning port, by drilling into the bottom of their phone has been watched almost 10m times.

The prank video shows a man drilling a 3.5mm hole into the bottom left edge of the iPhone 7 held in a vice. It points to the row of small holes on the left side that replaced the headphone socket present on the iPhone 6S and claims that drilling into the second hole on the left reveals a hidden socket.

Once the hole has been drilled the video shows an iPhone 7 playing music, although the sound comes out of the speakers, not the white headphones now inserted in the DIY hole.

The video was produced by Sacramento, California-based Ukrainian YouTuber Taras Maksimuk who “specialises in smashing technology for your pleasure” according to his profile. Some of Maksimuk’s other videos include “what happens if you microwave an iPhone 7” and “can the iPhone 7 survive in liquid nitrogen for five minutes”.

The YouTube video’s comment section – normally a place filled with vitriol and despair for humanity – was full of people claiming to have performed the operation and destroying their iPhone 7 in the process, the sincerity of which is questionable.

Lukelaluke123 said: “ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I WAITD TILL MY DAD WAS SLEEP THEN I WENT TO THE GARAGE AND GOT HIS DIRLL AND DID THIS ND NOW MY IPHONE WONT NOT EVEN WORK!!!!! YOU ARE SUCH ASCUM BAG WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS IM GOING TO MAEK SURE YOURE UTUBE CHANNEL IS GETS SHUT DOWN.”

The video received over 134,000 likes, but just under 88,000 dislikes. It’s unclear how many of the dislikes were from people who had been tricked into drilling a hole into their £600-plus smartphone. Cont.

YouTuber "JinBop" Arrested For Producing Child Pornography By Luring His Young Fans

Story out of Detroit, Michigan:

Federal investigators arrested popular YouTuber Starlit “JinBop” Zhao last month for allegedly engaging in sexually predatory behavior toward a 15-year-old female fan of his channel. The news of Zhao’s arrest first spread over the weekend through a YouTube news channel, and he remains in custody today. Zhao’s YouTube channel, popular among young teens, features him playing a variety of games including Minecraft and Inside.

According to an affidavit sent to Kotaku by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, where Zhao is in custody, he allegedly engaged in illicit online behavior with a minor over the course of several months this year. An FBI representative told Kotaku that Zhao was arrested at the Detroit Metro airport, where he was allegedly on his way to meet the fan. Zhao is nine years her senior.

Zhao is accused of producing and receiving child pornography, as well as enticing a minor and traveling “with intent to engage in illicit sexual activity.” A court document alleges, “the defendant acted in a deliberate, sexually predatory manner toward a fan he knew to be a minor (14 to 15 years old at all times relevant hereto) over many months in a manner designed to ‘groom’ her to participate in the production of child pornography and further to participate in direct sexual activity with the defendant,” noting that the defendant’s work involves “creating content for YouTube with 10 to 14-year-old children as the intended audience and with this serving as a possible entrée into communication with minors.” He is currently detained, pending trial. Cont.

Mentally Disturbed YouTuber Arrested After Threatening To Kill "Gays, Faggots, Lesbians And Satanists"

A 24-year-old Las Vegas man has been charged for making terrorist threats in a video that was posted on YouTube.

Las Vegas police say they were notified on July 2 by Interpol via Google about a suspicious/threatening YouTube video.

In the video, a man named Bryce Cuellar reportedly showed off two rifles and was wearing a military flak vest and night vision goggles.

Cuellar reportedly said in the video that he is tired of the government trying to take away his First and Second Amendment rights and says that he cannot wait to use his rifle in the manner in which the founding fathers intended.

He also said that he wanted to kill "gays, faggots, lesbians and satanists" and claimed to be a Christian warrior. Cuellar also said that he is tired of America and would begin killing soon.

An hour after Cuellar posted the video, police say he attacked his wife, punching her and causing her to fall to the ground. He then jumped on her and began choking her and telling her that he was going to kill her.

Based on the video and statements, Cuellar was charged with terrorist threats. He was also placed on a mental health hold at the time by Clark County Detention Center staff. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

RNC Forced To Shut Down YouTube Chat Because Of Trump Supporters Anti-Semitism

Why, you ask? Because the Republicans have now disabled the live chat window on the page after it got overrun by anti-Semitic Trump supporters.

As former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle gave a speech promoting inroads that Republicans have made with Jewish voters, as well as ripping the Democrats for allegedly being more hostile to Israel, Trump’s alt-right followers flooded the page with anti-Semitic vitriol.

Among other things, the Trump fans wrote “Press H for Hitler,” “JOOS,” “BAN JEWS,” “OY GEVALT,” and “KIKE.” Cont.

PewDiePie And Other YouTubers Get Caught With Their Hands In The Cookie Jar

The Federal Trade Commission has reached a settlement with Warner Bros. over claims that the publisher failed to disclose that it had paid prominent YouTubers for positive coverage of one of its video games. The FTC charge stated that Warner Bros. deceived customers by paying thousands of dollars to social media "influencers," including YouTube megastar PewDiePie, to cover Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor without announcing that money had changed hands.

Under the terms of the agreement, Warner Bros. is banned from failing to disclose similar deals in the future, and cannot pretend that sponsored videos and articles are actually the work of independent producers. "Consumers have the right to know if reviewers are providing their own opinions or paid sales pitches," director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection Jessica Rich said in a statement. "Companies like Warner Brothers need to be straight with consumers in their online ad campaigns."

The videos earned more than 5.5 million views for Warner Bros., with PewDiePie's monster subscriber numbers accounting for 3.7 million views on his own. Influencers were advised to disclose the video's sponsored status under YouTube's "Show More" section, and while PewDiePie included a line, others did not. But that doesn't matter: the FTC says this would not have been enough to skirt the rules anyway, as the disclaimer would not have been visible on videos watched through Twitter, Facebook, or other social media sources. Cont.

YouTube "Star" Charged After Making False Claims About Hate Crime, Injured Self In Jail Cell

I was going to post this story a few days ago, but held off because something didn't pass muster, and now we know. But don't worry, he's a YouTube star, his channel will now be all about mental illness, blah, blah, blah. Story out of Los Angeles, California:

A gay YouTube personality was charged Wednesday with making a false police report after saying he was beaten outside a Los Angeles gay nightclub.

Calum McSwiggan, 26, posted an Instagram photo Monday of himself lying in a hospital bed with a bandage. In the caption, he described being beaten by three men in the city of West Hollywood. “With three broken teeth and six stitches in my forehead, I’ve never felt so terrified to be a gay man in the public eye,” he wrote.

Officials from the LA County Sheriff’s Department were unable to substantiate the assault, according to a statement to the LA Times. McSwiggan was subsequently arrested for allegedly vandalizing a car. Officials say he injured himself in his jail cell and was taken to the hospital. Cont.

YouTube Personality Evicted From Apartment After Neighbours Think He's Having Loud Gay Sex

YouTube’s biggest star is infamous for screaming over footage of video games, and while he makes some good money doing it, it seems that his neighbors don’t really appreciate his shitck at all.

Actually, Pewdiepie says he is getting evicted from an apartment that he used as a recording studio over the noise he makes while recording videos.

Most of the time, Pewdiepie records in a soundproof room where volume isn’t really a problem, and he can shriek to his heart’s content. Sometimes, however, he’ll need more space—so he records in his kitchen. And that’s where his neighbors can hear him loud and clear

At some point a neighbor got so sick of Pewdiepie’s shit, that he came over to chew Pewdiepie out while the Swedish YouTuber was recording a video. In the footage, you can hear a man angrily cussing out Pewdiepie, at one point even calling him a “faggot.”

Not long afterward, Pewdiepie says he received an official eviction notice, which apparently required him to move out by the 29th of this month. Cont. (Video)

YouTube Star 'Baby Scumbag' Promised 12 Year Old Girl MTV Cameo For Sex

Story out of Los Angeles, California:

Steven Fernandez, 15, of Compton, Jose Barajas, 22, and Keelan Lamar Dadd, 27, were arrested and charged with committing lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Fernandez is a well-known skateboarder with a large following on Twitter and Instagram. He also markets the popular clothing label Honey Brand. Barajas is his manager and Dadd is a fellow professional skater.

Fernandez is accused of using his celebrity status to lure the girl into a car being driven by Barajas on Ventura Boulevard on Nov. 13. Police allege that he promised her fame and even an appearance spot on a nonexistent MTV special in exchange for sex acts.

Four days later, detectives posing as the girl arranged to meet Fernandez and Barajas at an abandoned home allegedly for sex, police said. Both were subsequently arrested during the sting operation. Dadd accompanied by an attorney turned himself into police Dec. 3.

Fernandez was released to his mother and was ordered to wear an ankle tracker pending his court appearance as he is a minor. Cont.
