LGBT Need Not Apply - Lutheran School May Lose Federal Funding After Issuing Discrimintory Policy

Story out of Baraboo, Wisconsin:

A Lutheran school is under investigation for distributing a new student handbook that outlines disciplinary policies for gay and transgender students. That's because the institution receives federal funding.

St. John's Lutheran School in Baraboo, Wisconsin, sent the revised document to parents, which states that "although we do not have the right to refuse admittance to people choosing an outwardly sinful lifestyle, we do maintain the right to discipline and dismiss students for these choices."

Because the school receives taxpayer money for its free and reduced lunch program, disciplining students for their sexual orientation or gender identity is prohibited under Title IX.

According to school policy, he told the paper, the school would "patiently instruct" a gay or transgender student who "displayed those tendencies." If said "tendencies" persisted, Breitkreutz said, the school board could expel the student. Cont.
