Trump Campaign Manager Kellyanne Conway Admits Her Candidate Is A Man Child

New York Magazine’s Gabriel Sherman has a richly reported account of what he’s calling the “Final Days” of Donald Trump’s campaign to win the presidency. Basically, it’s a good chance for all the major players in the Trump camp to show up, briefly account for their actions, and try and build the case that they’re not really to blame for what happened.

“If Donald Trump had only listened to me!” is a dominant theme.

One of the more important members of that coterie is Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, who is basically of the opinion that the GOP presidential nominee is an unruly infant:

To hear Kellyanne Conway talk about managing her boss is to listen to a mother of four who has had ample experience with unruly toddlers. Instead of criticizing Trump’s angry tweets, for instance, she suggested that he also include a few positive ones. “You had these people saying, ‘Delete the app! Stop tweeting!’ ” she recalled. “I would say, ‘Here are a couple of cool things we should tweet today.’ It’s like saying to someone, ‘How about having two brownies and not six?’ ” Cont.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Putting Bleach In Girlfriend's Water

Story out of Millersville, Pennsylvania:

A Pennsylvania university student accused of having put bleach in his pregnant girlfriend's water in an attempt to harm her fetus has been charged with attempted murder, authorities said.

Theophilous Washington, 20, of Washington, D.C., a junior at Millersville University, is charged in Lancaster County with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder of an unborn child as well as reckless endangering.

"The charges are twisted and the intended result nothing short of horrifying," District Attorney Craig Stedman said in a statement Friday.

Prosecutors said police interviewed Washington and they allege that he acknowledged having put bleach in a water bottle.

"Washington, the father of the child, admitted to putting bleach in the water bottle," prosecutors said. "He had stated previously that he did not want the female to have the child." Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

Large Pile Of Dung Dumped In Front Of Democratic Party Headquarters In Ohio

I'd say Democrats should seek out revenge but with Trump, Republicans are already shoveling copious amounts of shit.

Story out of Warren County, Ohio:

For those who think this election season can’t get crappier, we bring you to Warren County, Ohio, where a large truckload of manure was dumped in front of Warren County Democratic Party headquarters in Lebanon, about 35 miles northeast of Cincinnati.

A sheriff’s deputy was the first to notice the pile and alerted office leaders of it about 8 a.m. Saturday, local party officials told The Washington Post.

If any of this sounds or looks familiar, it may be because a similar dump occurred at the same offices in 2012. Nobody was ever caught after that incident.

The pile was about 15 to 20 feet wide and about 3 feet tall at its peak, Goldenfield estimated. Most of it was cleared early Saturday afternoon by volunteers and a contractor the office hired to haul away the manure, she said. Cont.

Police Baffled After 3 Bodies Are Found In Driveway

Walton says an 18-month-old child was taken from the home and is doing OK. He says two of the people fatally shot were the child's parents. Department Of Veterans Affairs Employee Left Humiliated After Being Escorted Out For Confronting Religious Group Handing Out Bibles In Government Building

Story out of Phoenix, Arizona:

A Department of Veterans Affairs employee says he was humiliated and led away by VA police last week after he questioned unlawful religious proselytizers who were handing out Bibles at the federal hospital in central Phoenix.

Jesse Gonzales, a dental assistant at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center, says he was on a break Oct. 20, walking down a corridor, when three men at a table offered him a free Bible.

Gonzales, an Air Force veteran, says he politely refused and proceeded into the canteen to purchase a snack. However, when he was solicited again on the return trip, Gonzales says he asked whether the group was authorized to promote religion on federal property.

As Gonzales tells it, the youngest solicitor reacted angrily, using the "F" word and claiming to have VA authorization as well as a legal right to pass out scriptures.

Gonzales, who is affiliated with a national group called the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, says a crowd gathered as the argument erupted into shouted expletives on both sides.

Two VA police officers showed up, Gonzales says, escorted him away and insisted he leave while the religious handouts continued. "These guys weren't even supposed to be there," Gonzales says. "And here they were yelling at me? I believe in the Constitution. ... But then the police hauled me away."

Mikey Weinstein, founder and president of the Religious Freedom group says he was stunned by Gonzales' experience, and contacted the hospital's then-acting director, Shawn Bransky, who agreed the incident was not handled appropriately.

Gonzales says Bransky apologized, noted that the Bible group was unauthorized and promised to issue an explanatory email to VA employees. Cont.

Mother Pens Angry Letter After Modelling Agency Rejects 15-Month-Old With Down Syndrome

Asher Nash is an adorable 15-month-old who was turned down by a modelling agency seeking babies for an ad — because he has Down syndrome.

That’s what the boy’s mother, Meagan Nash, confirmed when she submitted some cute photos of her son in response to a call for children to appear in an ad for Carter’s baby clothes and didn’t hear anything back for three weeks, reports Us Weekly.

“Something in my gut told me to reach out to them, because I couldn’t believe that he hasn’t gotten at least one call from them,” she told Inside Edition.

The reason she hadn’t heard anything, she was told, was because the agency didn’t even submit Asher’s photos for consideration because the company hadn’t “requested a special needs baby.”

This did not sit well with Nash. “I sat back all confused,” she explained. “I immediately wrote a well-thought-out message explaining to them my son had every right to be considered.”

The agency, she says, apologized and promised to submit Asher for future opportunities, regardless of whether clients are seeking special needs children. Cont.

Man Murders Girlfriend After She Rejects Marriage Proposal

Story out of Greensburg, Indiana:

A Greensburg man was arrested for murder after walking into the police station and admitting that he killed his girlfriend.

Jason Eaton, 43, has been charged with the murder of 44-year-old Wendy Sabatini.

On Tuesday evening, Greensburg Police say Eaton arrived at the police station and asked to speak with an officer. Eaton allegedly told officers that he had shot Sabatini after she refused an offer of marriage. Eaton told the officer that he "messed up" and thought he had killed Sabatini.

When police arrived at Sabatini's home on East Washington Street, they found Sabatini's son, who had arrived home from school and was eating dinner, thinking his mother was at work. But officers searched the home and found Sabatini dead in an upstairs bedroom from a single gunshot wound to the head. Officers found a gun in the bedroom.

Eaton told police he had approached Sabatini with an engagement ring, but she said no before he could ask her to marry him. Eaton said he took a gun from the nightstand and moved behind Sabatini, who was sitting on the bed.

Eaton told police "the gun fired" and shot Sabatini in the head. Cont.

'Simulation Drill' Goes Too Far After Wisconsin Students Announce The Fake Deaths Of Classmates

Story out of Brodhead, Wisconsin:

Some students say an announcement telling students some of their classmates were dead as part of a safe driving drill was inappropriate.

During the morning announcements students were told the name of four students who had supposedly died in a car accident that morning. Several minutes later, a second announcement told students their classmates were not dead and that, instead, the announcement was part of a simulation drill.

The Brodhead HIgh School principle says the drill was put on by the student council as part of a year-long campaign on safe driving. Throughout the day more announcements told students more of their classmates were dying in car accidents.

The students that were "dying" as part of the drill were aware ahead of time but were not allowed to use their phones to notify other classmates that they were okay.

"A lot of our fellow friends and students actually started crying because they thought these people were actually dead and so I think a lot of them actually called their parents in school too," Brodhead High School student Madison Trombley says.

Some students say if they would have been warned about the drill the reaction would have been much different. Cont.

Sick In The Head Christians Struggle To Find Venue For Their 'Hell House' Featuring Pulse Night Club Massacre

Story out of Chicago, Illinois:

A Far South Side grade school will not co-host a haunted house that contained, among other depictions, a representation of the June, 2016, shootings at the Pulse nightclub, according to CPS officials.

Fernwood Elementary School, was advertised by promoters as the location of a haunted house entitled The Room: A Journey to Hell that was scheduled to take place the evenings of Oct. 29 and Oct. 30. Fernwood was also initially listed as a co-sponsor of the event.

Nat (who asked that their complete name not be used) said that they saw a flyer for the haunted house at a restaurant at 104th Street and Torrence Avenue, adding, "I went in for some dinner, and promptly lost my appetite when I saw that."

Nat was initially intrigued by the event, "But when I saw Pulse was mentioned, my head just about blew up. How could they depict that?"

CPS spokesman Michael Passman told Windy City Times in an Oct. 28 email that the event will not take place at Fernwood.

"The event organizers mischaracterized the true content of the event, and we did not approve any association with the activities the organizers have now advertised," said Passman. "The event will not be held on CPS property."

Other scenarios reportedly depicted in the haunted house were a botched abortion and the 2015 Charleston church shooting. According to the ticket sales page, The Room "is a real life haunted house. Guests will experience IN YOUR FACE scenes of dark reality. … You will walk in 10 Rooms and encounter individuals who will make choices. The choice is life or death; sin or salvation; heaven or hell. The scenes will be action-packed, real and jaw dropping."

Nat said they were particularly bothered that promoters were talking about the events "in terms of 'moral choices'—whose moral choices are we talking about? Is it immoral to just want to go out and be with your friends and dance? And what really bothered me was that this was in a public school supported by our tax dollars." Cont.

Parents Face Child-Neglect Charges After 9-Month-Old Exposed To Fentanyl

Story out of Winnipeg, Manitoba:

The parents of a nine-month-old boy face child-neglect and drug charges after the infant became critically ill upon coming into contact with what police suspect was fentanyl powder inside a home in Winnipeg's North End last week.

More than 10 ounces of powder, or just under 300 grams, was seized by police after the boy was found experiencing "respiratory distress" by emergency responders at a house on Aikins Street around 5:30 p.m. CT on Oct. 18.

The boy was taken to hospital in critical condition, but he has since been upgraded to stable condition and the prognosis is positive, say police, who believe the infant may have become exposed to the powerful opioid but are still trying to determine how.

A 33-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, described by police as the biological parents, were arrested on Monday and charged with failing to provide the necessities of life, causing bodily harm by criminal negligence and possessing fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. Toxicology Report Shows Miami Marlins Pitcher Jose Fernandez Had Cocaine, Alcohol In System Before Fatal Boating Accident

Fernandez boat was called 'Kaught Looking' and it sounds like that's exactly how he died.

Story out of Miami, Florida:

Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez had cocaine and alcohol in his system when his boat crashed into a Miami Beach jetty, according to toxicology reports released Saturday.

It’s not clear whether Fernandez was driving when the boat crashed Sept. 25, killing the 24-year-old major league all-star and two of his friends. But Fernandez had a blood-alcohol content level of 0.147, well above Florida’s legal limit of 0.08, according to autopsy reports released by the Miami-Dade County medical examiner’s office.

Associate medical examiner Kenneth Hutchins listed the cause of death as “boat crash” for Fernandez, 27-year-old Emilio Jesus Macias and 25-year-old Eduardo Rivero. Each man had suffered blunt force injuries to his head and body, Hutchins wrote.

Toxicology reports showed both Macias and Rivero also had alcohol levels below the state’s legal limit, while Rivero also had cocaine in his system.

U.S. Coast Guard officials have said they’ll examine lighting at the South Beach jetty where the boat crashed. Fernandez, the National League rookie of the year in 2013 and a two-time all-star, owned the 32-foot SeaVee named Kaught Looking. Cont.

Watch One Of Trump's Deplorables Chant "Jew-S-A!"

Story out of Phoenix, Arizona:

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway admonished a man who shouted "Jew-S-A!" at reporters at a Trump rally Saturday night and said she would have had him removed if she had seen it.

Asked by CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" Sunday whether she would call the man's conduct "deplorable," Conway said: "Yes, I would. His conduct is completely unacceptable and does not reflect our campaign or our candidate."

The word "deplorable" recalled Hillary Clinton's comment at a private fundraiser that half (all) of Trump's supporters fit into what she called a "basket of deplorables." After criticism, Clinton later said she should not have said "half" of his backers were deplorable. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

Woman Arrested After Tampering With Election Ballots To Help Get Her Preferred Mayoral Candidate Elected

Story out of Miami-Dade County, Florida

A 74-year-old woman tasked with opening envelopes sent by Miami-Dade County voters with their completed mail ballots was arrested Friday after co-workers caught her illegally marking ballots, resulting in an unknown — but small — number of fraudulent votes being cast for mayoral candidate Raquel Regalado.

Investigators linked Gladys Coego, a temporary worker for the county elections department, to two fraudulent votes, but they suspect from witness testimony that she submitted several more.

Coego, of Westchester, turned herself in to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Friday morning. She was charged with two felony counts of marking another person’s ballot. Coego was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Coego’s job was to remove mail ballots from envelopes, count the number of pages and check for any tears or stains before someone else introduced them into an optical scanner to tabulate the votes. Miami-Dade started tallying mail ballots Monday, as allowed by Florida law.

According to Coego’s arrest affidavit, she sat by herself behind a back table in a room with about 80 other workers. Another temp worker, identified as “S. Tremmel,” saw her illicitly mark three ballots Tuesday, pulling a black pen out of her purse each time. She “would hide the pen in her purse whenever a supervisor or other employee came near,” Tremmel told investigators.

Regalado, a Republican, is running for the nonpartisan mayor’s post against incumbent Carlos Gimenez, who is also a Republican. As strong mayor, Gimenez appointed Elections Supervisor Christina White and is ultimately in charge of her department. Cont.

"Ethnic Affinity" - Facebook Caught Letting Advertisers Exclude People By Race

Isn't it strange that a company that employs so many bigoted rich people would turn out to be a bigoted platform? :/

Imagine if, during the Jim Crow era, a newspaper offered advertisers the option of placing ads only in copies that went to white readers.

That’s basically what Facebook is doing nowadays.

The ubiquitous social network not only allows advertisers to target users by their interests or background, it also gives advertisers the ability to exclude specific groups it calls “Ethnic Affinities.” Ads that exclude people based on race, gender and other sensitive factors are prohibited by federal law in housing and employment.

The Fair Housing Act of 1968 makes it illegal "to make, print, or publish, or cause to be made, printed, or published any notice, statement, or advertisement, with respect to the sale or rental of a dwelling that indicates any preference, limitation, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.” Violators can face tens of thousands of dollars in fines.

Facebook’s business model is based on allowing advertisers to target specific groups — or, apparently to exclude specific groups — using huge reams of personal data the company has collected about its users. Facebook’s microtargeting is particularly helpful for advertisers looking to reach niche audiences, such as swing-state voters concerned about climate change. ProPublica recently offered a tool allowing users to see how Facebook is categorizing them. We found nearly 50,000 unique categories in which Facebook places its users.

Steve Satterfield, privacy and public policy manager at Facebook said it’s important for advertisers to have the ability to both include and exclude groups as they test how their marketing performs. For instance, he said, an advertiser “might run one campaign in English that excludes the Hispanic affinity group to see how well the campaign performs against running that ad campaign in Spanish. This is a common practice in the industry.”

He said Facebook began offering the “Ethnic Affinity” categories within the past two years as part of a “multicultural advertising” effort.

Satterfield added that the “Ethnic Affinity” is not the same as race — which Facebook does not ask its members about. Facebook assigns members an “Ethnic Affinity” based on pages and posts they have liked or engaged with on Facebook.

When we asked why “Ethnic Affinity” was included in the “Demographics” category of its ad-targeting tool if it’s not a representation of demographics, Facebook responded that it plans to move “Ethnic Affinity” to another section. Cont.

Et Tu, Ya Brute - Waiter Knocks The Thumb Off Priceless Roman Statue

Don't worry the fiend has been retrained. No excuses have been put forward as to why the museum was mixing Ancient Roman Archaeology with the soup of the day.

Story out of London, England:

If it weren’t awful, it would simply be hilarious: A waiter preparing for a corporate event at the British Museum knocked the thumb off a priceless Roman statue.

The Art Newspaper first reported the incident, which took place in December of last year.

The newspaper says the waiter was working too close to the statue, which is on a low pedestal. The thumb on the right hand broke off, falling cleanly to the floor beneath the two-metre statue.

The museum says the incident was taken seriously and individuals responsible for events have been retrained. Cont.

141 Arrested As Protesters Continue To Oppose Dakota Pipeline

Story out of Bismarck, North Dakota:

The standoff over the Dakota Access Pipeline is heating up, and protesters say they won't back down.

Long-brewing tensions over the controversial project boiled over Thursday, as police in riot gear faced off with protesters on horseback. After hours of clashes, law enforcement officials arrested 141 people.

A court decision allowing construction of the $3.7 billion pipeline across four states hasn't dampened demonstrators' furor over the project. The developer calls it an economic boon that will make the US less dependent on imported oil. But protesters say it threatens the environment and will destroy Native American burial sites, prayer sites and artifacts.

Police deployed bean bags, pepper spray gas and unleashed a high-pitched siren as they tried to disperse the crowd. Protesters lit debris on fire and threw Molotov cocktails, North Dakota Department of Emergency Services spokeswoman Cecily Fong said.

Authorities accused most of the arrested demonstrators of trespassing on private property. Supporters of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe had earlier set up tents and teepees on the land, which they said belongs to the tribe under a 19th-century treaty. Cont. (Video)

'I See Trump Lying In Sh*t' - Documentary Explores The Hell Trump Puts People Of Balmedie, Scotland Threw Over Luxury Golf Course

“I see Donald Trump lying in the road there,” grins Scottish farmer Michael Forbes, pointing to a ripe mound of horse shit occupying the pavement outside the 2016 Republican National Convention, in the new documentary sequel You’ve Been Trumped, Too. Pointedly rushed into release to be seen by American audiences before Nov. 8, the Election Day urgency is obvious, and even the laughs are edged with a bittersweet dread and panic.

Forbes is one of the residents of Balmedie, Scotland, who’s been waging a David vs. Goliath battle for years against Trump over a luxury golf course that opened in 2012 right down the road. The development of the new Trump International Golf Links ruined protected natural sand dunes, failing spectacularly to deliver on a plethora of lofty promises Trump had personally made to local citizens and politicians—namely, economic growth and thousands of new jobs.

More impressively, the debacle managed to turn most of Scotland against the GOP nominee, who was stripped of various honorary Scottish accolades over the course of his presidential campaign. A petition to have him banned from the U.K. racked up half a million signatures. Even Prime Minister David Cameron was forced to condemn Trump on the floor of Parliament over his anti-Muslim comments. In Aberdeen, Trump was greeted upon his arrival to the course’s grand opening with a display of Mexican flags flying defiantly over the homes of his pissed-off neighbors. Cont. (Video)

"Depraved" - ISIL Using Thousands Of Human Shields As Death Toll Rises In The Fight For Mosul

Story out of Mosul, Iraq:

ISIS appears to be using tens of thousands of people as human shields in and around Mosul, where Iraqi forces are waging a large-scale offensive aimed at retaking the country's second largest city, the UN human rights office said Friday.

It has received reports of more than 200 people being killed for refusing to comply with ISIS orders or previously belonging to Iraqi security forces. It said "credible reports" suggest the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria has been forcing tens of thousands from their homes in districts around Mosul.

The militant group's "depraved, cowardly strategy is to attempt to use the presence of civilian hostages to render certain points, areas or military forces immune from military operations, effectively using tens of thousands of women, men and children as human shields," spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani said in Geneva.

U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Matthew C. Isler said Iraqi troops on Friday were consolidating gains made east and south of the city earlier this week, but insisted "momentum" was still on their side.

Isler says the U.S.-led coalition has stepped up airstrikes against the militants, and is carrying out three times as many as it did during previous campaigns to drive ISIS from other Iraqi cities. Cont. (Video)

Teen Signs Organ Donor Form 'Saving 45 Lives' Two Days Before Dying In Car Crash

Story out of Steinbach, Manitoba:

Next time you're renewing a piece of government-issued I.D., don't overlook the organ donation form that comes along with it.

That's the message friends and family are sharing following the death of 16-year-old Tyler Klassen, who was fatally injured in a car crash two days after he filled out a donor consent form while signing up for his first driver's licence.

Klassen was involved in a single-vehicle incident on a rural road outside Steinbach, Man., on Saturday. Police say the vehicle went into the ditch and hit the trees at the side of the road. Klassen was seriously injured in the incident, and a 16-year-old passenger was also injured but in stable condition.

"His mom is just full of mixed emotions right now," Doreen Dueck, a family friend, told CTV Winnipeg. She said Klassen's mother is devastated and heartbroken by his loss, but also "full of joy" because her son is "going to be saving 45 lives" as an organ donor. Cont. (Video)

Girl Featured In Iconic National Geographic Cover Arrested In Afghanistan

An Afghan woman immortalised on the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1985 as a green-eyed 12-year-old has been arrested in Pakistan for holding fake identity papers, officials say.

Sharbat Gula could face a fine and up to 14 years in jail.

Officials say she was arrested by Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after a two-year probe in Peshawar, near the Afghan border.

Pakistan recently launched a crackdown against fake IDs.

Mrs Gula allegedly applied for an identity card in April 2014, using the name Sharbat Bibi. If the fraud claims are true, she is one of thousands of Afghan refugees living in Pakistan who have tried to dodge its computerised system.

Recent UN figures show that Pakistan hosts 1.4 million registered Afghan refugees. A further one million unregistered refugees are believed to be in the country.

The celebrated "Afghan girl" picture of Mrs Gula was taken in 1984 in a refugee camp in north-west Pakistan, during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. It led to one of the most recognisable magazine covers ever printed. Cont.

Carleigh Hager, 25, is telling her story of survival after she says her now ex-boyfriend brutally attacked her inside their Indianapolis home. CBS4 talked to Carleigh inside her hospital room where she's recovering from one of the darkest nights of her life.

“And he tried to rip my tongue out with his bare fingers from here all the way up to here and he succeeded, half way. He got the right side halfway. He got it halfway ripped out,” Carleigh said.

Talking through the pain of having her tongue reconstructed and bruises and bite marks all over her body, Carleigh recalled the traumatizing episode with her mother by her side. She says she and her now ex-boyfriend Ryan Cameron, 26, returned home from a wedding Saturday night with some friends. After launching a verbal assault things got physical.

"Heinous" - Drunk Man Strangles Friend To Death, Stuffs Him In Suitcase

Story out of Sierra Vista, Arizona:

A man has been arrested for murder after admitting to police he strangled his roommate and hid his body in a suitcase in the bedroom closet.

Keith Allen White, 50, was charged with second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Sierra Vista Police received a call at 9:13 p.m. Monday from a resident of the apartment who reported that White had admitted to killing his roommate, Brian Cook, who is also a relative of the caller.

When they arrived, “he’s got the windows down and a fan blowing the odor of human decomposition out of the apartment,” said Sgt. Sean Brownson, a detective with the department’s Special Operations Bureau.

White and Cook began sharing an apartment about a month ago in order to reduce expenses. Both were mostly unemployed and suffered from alcoholism. The two had spent Saturday evening drinking in the apartment when a prolonged argument began.

“They argued all Saturday night,” the detective said. Then, between 2 and 3 a.m. Sunday, White lunged at Cook, wrapping his hands around his throat.

“He said the victim didn’t offer any resistance. They were both very intoxicated because they had been drinking a lot of vodka. He said the guy wouldn’t quit running his mouth,” he said.

White told Brownson that he tried to revive Cook, but it was too late.

A 17-year veteran of the police force described the case as “heinous” and “gruesome.” Cont.

A charity golf tournament scheduled for the day before Election Day at Donald Trump’s West Palm Beach course has turned sour, with the charity, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, saying the Trump people are charging unexpected fees that will cut into proceeds.

Trump International Golf Club, near Palm Beach International Airport, is on county land. As a condition of the original lease agreement since the facility opened in 1996, the golf club must make its links available at times for charity tournaments.

“This ‘free’ event is costing us $20,000 between golf and catering fees,” Mark Casale, vice president of philanthropy for the Boys and Girls Clubs, complained Tuesday in an email to County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay and Assistant County Administrator Todd Bonlarron. “What we had hoped for as far as a ‘net’ income for this event has been cut in half (if we are lucky).” Cont.

The Vatican Tells Catholics Not To Get Cremated Anymore (And You Better Do What They Say, Or... Or... Something)

Would this have anything to do with... money? Nah, Nah, the giant corrupt, mobster like Jesus cult wouldn't change their "deeply" held religious "beliefs" just for monetary gains, would they?

I was being sarcastic.

Story out of Rome, Italy:

The Vatican on Tuesday published guidelines for Catholics who want to be cremated, saying their remains cannot be scattered, divvied up or kept at home but rather stored in a sacred, church-approved place.

The new instructions were released just in time for Halloween and "All Souls Day" on Nov. 2, when the faithful are supposed to pray for and remember the dead.

It said it was doing so to counter what it called "new ideas contrary to the church's faith" that had emerged since 1963, including New Age-y  ideas that death is a "fusion" with Mother Nature and the universe, or the "definitive liberation" from the prison of the body.

To set the faithful straight, the Vatican said ashes and bone fragments cannot be kept at home, since that would deprive the Christian community as a whole of remembering the dead. Rather, church authorities should designate a sacred place, such as a cemetery or church area, to hold them.

It repeated church teaching that Catholics who choose to be cremated for reasons contrary to the Christian faith must be denied a Christian funeral. Cont.

ISIL Loyalists Murder 59 Cadets At Police Training Facility In Pakistan, Injure More Than 100

Story out of Quetta, Pakistan:

Militant group Islamic State said on Tuesday that fighters loyal to its movement attacked a police training college in Quetta in southwest Pakistan in a raid that officials said killed 59 people and wounded more than 100.

Pakistani authorities have blamed another militant group, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), for the late-Monday siege, though the Islamic State claim included photographs of three alleged attackers.

Hundreds of trainees were stationed at the college on the city outskirts when masked gunmen stormed in. Some cadets were taken hostage during the raid, which lasted nearly five hours. Most of the dead were cadets.

Islamic State's Amaq news agency published the claim of responsibility, saying three IS fighters "used machine guns and grenades, then blew up their explosive vests in the crowd."

Monday night's assault on the police college was the deadliest in Pakistan since a suicide bomber killed 70 people in an attack on mourners gathered at a Quetta hospital in August. That attack was claimed by IS, and also by a Pakistani Taliban faction, Jamaat-ur-Ahrar. Cont.

Mississippi Community In Shock After Black Student Has Noose Put Around Neck By Classmates

Story out of Wiggins, Mississippi:

The president of the Mississippi NAACP is demanding a federal hate crime investigation after the parents of a black high school student said as many as four white students put a noose around their son’s neck at school.

“No child should be walking down the hall or in a locker room and be accosted with a noose around their neck,” president Derrick Johnson said Monday during a news conference in Wiggins.

Johnson said the incident happened Oct. 13 near a locker room at Stone High School in Wiggins.

The NAACP said the incident happened during a break in football practice and that the noose was “yanked backward” while on the student’s neck.

Stone High has about 800 students, about a quarter of whom are black according to state figures. That’s not a particularly high percentage in Mississippi, where half of nearly 500,000 public school students are African-American.

The Stone County Sheriff’s Department provides officers at local schools and typically is the first to respond to incidents. Sheriff’s Capt. Ray Boggs said officials believe something close to what the Paytons described did happen and said he’s still investigating. He said all the students involved are younger than 17 and he expects any charges would be filed in youth court, where records are closed to the public.

Johnson said he wants the teenagers charged as adults. That’s allowable in certain situations for people between ages 13 and 16 in Mississippi. He cited federal prosecutions of young people from Rankin County for hate crimes following the 2011 death of a man run down in the parking lot of Jackson motel as an example of what federal involvement could bring. Most of those people were charged as adults, although there was evidence of at least one unusual federal juvenile prosecution.

Carissa Bolden of Wiggins, the mother of a middle school student, attended the NAACP news conference Monday and said white students have been flying the Mississippi flag from their vehicles. The upper left corner of the state flag used since 1894 has the Confederate battle emblem – a red field topped by a blue X with 13 white stars. Bolden said she sees a connection between the flag and the noose incident. Cont.

14-Year-Old Stabs Friend Wearing Clown Mask After Prank Goes Wrong

Story out of Berlin, Germany:

German police say a teenager's attempt to frighten a group of young people by wearing a clown mask and brandishing a hammer on a Berlin street turned out very badly.

Berlin police said Tuesday that a 14-year-old responded by pulling a knife and stabbing the clown, only to find that the clown was a 16-year-old acquaintance.

He rendered first aid until emergency medical help could arrive Monday.

The older teen was taken to a hospital. The 14-year-old was released to his parents.

Another clown incident was reported by Austrian police, the APA news agency reported. Police said a 19-year-old was injured after being chased by two people dressed as clowns who jumped from bushes in the town of Schwaz. A third clown joined the chase and attacked the man with a baseball bat.

News media in Europe and America have reported a rash of sightings — some confirmed, some not — of people dressed as clowns and acting in a disturbing manner. Cont.

Scumbag Republican City Clerk Opposed an Early-Voting Site In Green Bay Because Area Benefited Democrats

Story out of Green Bay, Wisconsin:

After the primary, leaders of eight different student groups—including the Republican, Democratic, and Libertarian parties and the Black Student Union—asked the city to put an early-voting location on campus to alleviate long lines. But city officials ignored the request and opened only one early-voting site on September 26 for the entire city—the third-largest in Wisconsin—at the clerk’s office, a 15-minute drive from campus, which is open only during business hours. City Clerk Kris Teske, an appointee of Republican Mayor Jim Schmitt, a close ally of Governor Scott Walker, said the city didn’t have the money, time, or security to open an early-voting location on campus or anywhere else.

But privately Teske gave a different reason for opposing an early-voting site at UW–Green Bay, writing that student voting would benefit the Democratic Party. “UWGB is a polling location for students and residents on Election Day but I feel by asking for this to be the site for early voting is encouraging the students to vote more than benefiting the city as a whole,” she wrote on August 26 in an e-mail to David Buerger, counsel at the Wisconsin Ethics Commission. “I have heard it said that students lean more toward the democrats…. I have spoken with our Chief of Staff and others at City Hall and they agree that budget wise this isn’t going to happen. Do I have an argument about it being more of a benefit to the democrats?”

The e-mails were provided to The Nation following an open-records request by the One Wisconsin Institute, which has successfully challenged early-voting cutbacks in the state. Cont.

11 Different Schools In Austria Have Been Found To Contain Radioactive Rocks In Display Cases

Story out of Salzburg, Austria:

A radioactive rock sat as part of a classroom display without anyone noticing for dozens of science lessons.

Nobody had realised that it was a lump of uranium, the metallic element which is used in nuclear reactors and even to produce atomic bombs.

It was giving off thousands of millisiverts of radiation into the school, a far higher amount than occurs naturally, but teachers only found out when an anti-nuclear campaigner Thomas Neff came into the science lab at Missionaries of the Sacred Heart School in Salzburg, Austria, to give a talk.

To help in his lecture, he brought a watch with him from the Sixties, which contained small amounts of radium so that its dial would light up in the dark. They were popular several decades ago, when people did not know as much about the dangers of radiation.

Even though the watch was carefully sealed, the Geiger counter still showed 1,200 counts per minute, which is 20 times the normal value.

When he took the counter around the room to measure the low levels of radiation which occur naturally, the counter started to go nuts when he walked past a group of display rocks, minerals and fossils.

Realising something was wrong, he stopped the lecture and alerted the school.

The discovery led to an alert around more schools in Salzberg, which unearthed 38 more lumps of uranium on display in school geology collections at 11 different schools. Cont.

Mother, Boyfriend Charged With Child Neglect After Leaving Scalded 10-Month-Old In Tub

Story out of Tampa, Florida:

A mother and her boyfriend are facing child neglect charges after her 10-month-old baby boy was severely burned in the shower, police said.

Police arrested Cayla Zarvas, 24, and her 24-year-old boyfriend Dennis E. Zipprian on child neglect with great bodily harm charges.

The affidavit says Zipprian was alone with his girlfriend's son while she worked at Pizza Hut. He left the infant alone in the shower for 5 to 7 minutes. The water was so hot it burned the boy's face, buttocks and genitals, resulting in blistering.

Zipprian eventually noticed the baby's burns and took him up to the Pizza Hut to tell Zarvas about the incident. Investigators say Zarvas left work and went with Zipprian to Walmart to buy burn cream. They also left the baby alone in the vehicle for 20 minutes while they bought the cream as well as Cheerios, popcorn, seasoning and milk.

The couple took the child to the hospital the next day. The baby was admitted to the burn unit at Tampa General Hospital. Doctors believe there will be permanent scarring and discoloration from the burns. Cont.
