Golfer Beats Man Unconscious, Causing Brain Damage After Etiquette Dispute

Story out of Carrollton, Texas:

A 42-year-old man has been accused of striking another man in the head and back with a golf club at Indian Creek Golf Course in Carrollton.

Michael Plumlee of Denton was one of four men putting on the 16th hole about 4 p.m. when another group of men hit a golf ball onto their green, Jolene DeVito, a Carrollton police spokeswoman, said in an email.

Plumlee, 27, threw the ball off the green, and the second group of men approached.

Witnesses told police that a man in the second group, 42-year-old Kevin Keo Sivilay of Richardson, hit Plumlee in the back of the head with a golf club, DeVito said.

The force knocked Plumlee to the ground, where he may have been briefly unconscious.

Sivilay then is alleged to have hit Plumlee once or twice in the back with the club while he was still on the ground.

Plumlee sustained a brain injury and broke several ribs.

Sivilay was arrested and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Cont.
