A man has lost both his legs in an accident with a train.
Michigan State Police were responding to reports of an armed robbery when they saw a car with an expired plate make an improper turn.
Troopers followed the vehicle in case it was connected to the robbery.
That’s when officials say the driver pulled into a driveway on 14th near Lapeer, jumped from the car, and started running.
A trooper chased the man to 16th street where a train was crossing. That’s when officials say the 20-year-old suspect dropped to his hands and knees and crawled under the train. He was snagged by the train and dragged around 1,000 feet.
When troopers found him one leg had been severed, the other was badly damaged. He was taken to the hospital where police were told the man would lose both legs. Cont.
