Story out of Chester County, South Carolina:
A skydiver fell about 14,000 feet to his death after colliding in the air with a second diver Saturday evening in Chester County, S.C.
Searchers found the body of Bond Springer, 32, of Boca Raton, Fla., just before 9 a.m. Sunday in a wooded area near Skydive Carolina, on King Air Drive, near Chester Municipal Airport.
“Our community is saddened by the loss of a community member and choose to take this time to remember him quietly,” a Skydive Carolina spokesman wrote in an email in response to a request for an interview.
Springer and a second diver jumped from a plane in wing suits during the annual CarolinaFest skydiving festival, according to a report from the Chester County Sheriff’s Office. Both were experienced skydivers, according to a statement from Skydive Carolina.
The second skydiver, Avalon Wolf, released his main parachute after the collision, Skydive Carolina’s report said. Wolf suffered a severe broken leg when he landed, according to the reports. Cont.
