One Dead, 3 Shot, 3 Stabbed At North Carolina Country Club

Story out of Salemburg North, Carolina:

One person died after multiple people were shot, stabbed or beaten during a fight at a country club in Sampson County Sunday morning, Sampson County authorities said.

“Boy, I have never experienced anything like last night,” said Jefferson Strickland, who lives across the street.

A call regarding gunshots and a fight at the Lakewood Country Club clubhouse near Salemburg came in to the 911 center just after 2:30 a.m. Additional calls came in and indicated that there were multiple gunshot victims and a stabbing victim.

Upon arrival, deputies found several groups of people engaged in fights and deputies attempted to break up the fights.

“One of the deputies that was attempting to break up the fight was cut. We believe it may have been with a broken glass shard from a bottle,” Sampson Co. Capt. Eric Pope said. He is being treated at Sampson Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

A preliminary investigation shows that the clubhouse was rented out to a person for a private party and sometime around 2:30 a.m. an altercation occurred. Three people were shot, one was stabbed and two were physically beaten. The motive is not yet known. Cont. (Video)
