14-Year-Old Joy Riding In Stolen Car Kills 13-Year-Old Passenger After Crashing
Story out of Caledon, Ontario:
A 14-year-old driver has been charged in the death of the 13-year-old girl he was carrying as a passenger in Caledon, Ont., after a crash early Tuesday morning.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to hospital and subsequently charged with criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death and possession of stolen property worth more than $5,000.
The car had been travelling northbound when it suddenly veered left, struck a hydro pole and smashed through a fence. The vehicle, a Toyota SUV, then rammed into a brick pillar that marks the entrance to Teen Ranch Canada.
The ranch is described on its website as "a not-for-profit, inter-denominational Christian Sports Camp and Retreat Facility."
Staff at Teen Ranch told CBC News the teens involved in the crash are not from their camp. Day camps are cancelled for the day due to the road closure and police investigation. Cont.
