Police Dog Dies After Overheating While Looking For Suspect


Story out of Arlington, Texas:

Mojo, an Arlington Police dog, died Tuesday after overheating while searching for an aggravated assault suspect.

According to police, K9 units were sent out to search for a wanted suspect that had fled during a traffic stop.

Around 11:15 AM, Mojo's handler notified officers that he appeared to be overheating, requested water and transport to an animal hospital.

Mojo died due to injuries related to heat around 2:30 PM.

Mojo is a Belgian Malinois and has been with the Arlington PD since 2010.

“Today we experienced a significant loss to our APD team." said Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye. "Mojo was an exceptional K9 partner, friend, and served the citizens of Arlington honorably”. Cont. (Video)
