Gov. Greg Abbott will be hospitalized for a minor infection after he sustained second-and third-degree burns on his lower legs and feet, which will also require skin grafts, his office said Monday.
As a result, Abbott will be unable to attend memorial services Tuesday in Dallas for the five officers gunned down following a downtown protest last week. His wife, Cecilia Abbott, will be at the memorial, which President Barack Obama, former President George W. Bush, and other state and national figures are expected to attend.
Abbott had been vacationing in Jackson Hole, Wyo., last week when he was accidentally scalded with hot water on both of his legs, below his knees and on his feet. Cont.
