The presumptive Republican presidential nominee came under fire Saturday after he shared an image that called Hillary Clinton the “most corrupt candidate ever”—words that were written on a Star of David. On the background? A large stack of $100 bills. Below the image was a screenshot of a Fox News poll that claimed 58 percent of respondents thought Clinton was corrupt. Less than two hours later, Trump tweeted the same image except the Star of David had been replaced by a circle.
It didn’t take long for Twitter users to raise questions about the image, and what Trump’s motives could have been for using the six-pointed star. “Why is there a Star of David?” wondered Clinton’s national spokesman Josh Schwerin.
