80-Year-Old Man Charged With Murder After Setting His 75-Year-Old Wife On Fire
Story out of Montreal, Quebec:
An 80-year-old man has been charged with murder after his wife was allegedly set on fire at the couple's Montreal-area duplex.
Salomon Abeassis appeared in court Wednesday to face charges of first-degree murder and arson in connection with the death of Teresa Cohen, 75. Cohen died in hospital on July 11, one day after suffering severe burns in a fire at the home she shared with Abeassis, in the Montreal suburb of Cote Saint-Luc.
Neighbour Esther Weber says she saw Cohen burning alive through a window on the second floor of the duplex. "She was yelling, saying, 'Help! Help! Help!'" Weber told CTV Montreal. Weber says she immediately called 911.
Investigators say they found evidence at the scene that led them to believe the fire was set deliberately. Cont. (Video)
