Mother Tries To 'Help' Son With Cancer By Injecting Feces Into IV

Story out of Indianapolis, Indiana:

An Indiana mother is accused of injecting feces into her son’s IV bag while he was undergoing cancer treatments at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Tiffany Alberts, 41, of Wolcott, Indiana, is charged with six counts of aggravated battery and one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.

Alberts’ 15-year-old son was being treated for cancer, and he had several unexplainable infections that were delaying treatment. Staff placed video surveillance in his room, and the video showed Alberts injecting an unknown substance into his IV bag with a syringe several times, court documents say.

Staff told police that Alberts’ son received his first round of chemotherapy for leukemia in September and went home. But several days later he returned to the hospital because he had a fever and diarrhea and was vomiting. The staff said his symptoms haven’t improved. He’s required several surgeries to changes his central venous line due to concern for infection, and he spent 18 days in the ICU.

Investigators questioned Alberts, and at first, she said she injected water into her son’s IV bag to “flush the line” because the “medicine that was given to him burned.” However, she later allegedly confessed that she injected fecal matter into the bag on multiple occasions. She says she did it to get her son moved to another unit at Riley that had better treatment, according to court documents.

The boy’s health improved once Alberts was removed from the hospital room, doctors said, but they worry they might have missed the time frame to keep his leukemia in remission. Cont.

Woman Calls 911 To Report She Killed Her Two Children

Story out of Darlington, Indiana:

Montgomery County Sheriff Mark Casteel said dispatchers received a 911 call around 4:30 a.m. from 30-year-old Brandi Worley, who told them she'd killed her two children. Officers found 7-year-old Tyler Worley and 3-year-old Charlie Worley dead when they arrived. The children were killed in their bedroom, Casteel said.

He did not disclose a motive for the killings. Brandi Worley stabbed herself in the neck. She was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment and police have not yet interviewed her. Casteel said a detective would interview Worley as soon as her medical condition allowed.

"I just stabbed myself and killed my two children," Casteel said, quoting the phone call from Worley.

Casteel said the children's father was at home, asleep in the basement, and was unaware of what was happening. The sheriff said there were no previous calls to the home that would have indicated problems.

Sheriff Casteel said there was no history of violence in the home and neighbors never saw any signs of trouble, but Brandi Worley’s family said her husband asked for a divorce this week. Cont. (Video)

Heil Trump - Church Vandalized With Swastikas, Anti-Gay Slurs

Story out of Bean Blossom, Indiana:

St. David's Episcopal Church in Bean Blossom was vandalized sometime Saturday night.

Vandals painted tags on the walls, depicting a swastika, an anti-gay slur and "Heil Trump."

The Rev. Kelsey Hutto, priest in charge at St. David's Episcopal Church, said she was disheartened after finding the graffiti on the walls of the church Sunday morning. But her next thought was more positive.

"Well, we must be doing something right," Hutto said she thought. "We stated one time that doing the right thing was not always the popular thing. We were targeted for a reason, and in our mind it was for a good reason."

Since Election Day, there have been more than 200 incidents of hateful harassment and intimidation across the country, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. And the rise in hate crimes since the election appears to be worse than what happened after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Richard Cohen, president of the Southern Poverty Law Center, told USA Today. Cont.

Worker Killed After Recycling Machine He Was Repairing Starts Up

Story out of Indianapolis, Indiana:

It happened about 1:30 a.m. inside the recycling plant, When medics and police arrived they found the male victim lying face down on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The night foreman said a machine was clogged, and the victim climbed into the machine to release the clog, according to an IMPD report. The machine turned on with the victim still inside.

Homicide detectives were also called to the scene to conduct a separate investigation, according to police. Cont.

Man Murders Girlfriend After She Rejects Marriage Proposal

Story out of Greensburg, Indiana:

A Greensburg man was arrested for murder after walking into the police station and admitting that he killed his girlfriend.

Jason Eaton, 43, has been charged with the murder of 44-year-old Wendy Sabatini.

On Tuesday evening, Greensburg Police say Eaton arrived at the police station and asked to speak with an officer. Eaton allegedly told officers that he had shot Sabatini after she refused an offer of marriage. Eaton told the officer that he "messed up" and thought he had killed Sabatini.

When police arrived at Sabatini's home on East Washington Street, they found Sabatini's son, who had arrived home from school and was eating dinner, thinking his mother was at work. But officers searched the home and found Sabatini dead in an upstairs bedroom from a single gunshot wound to the head. Officers found a gun in the bedroom.

Eaton told police he had approached Sabatini with an engagement ring, but she said no before he could ask her to marry him. Eaton said he took a gun from the nightstand and moved behind Sabatini, who was sitting on the bed.

Eaton told police "the gun fired" and shot Sabatini in the head. Cont.

"He Got It Halfway Ripped Out" - Woman Says Her Ex-Boyfriend Tried To Rip Her Tongue Out In Sickening Attack

Story out of Indianapolis, Indiana:

Carleigh Hager, 25, is telling her story of survival after she says her now ex-boyfriend brutally attacked her inside their Indianapolis home. CBS4 talked to Carleigh inside her hospital room where she's recovering from one of the darkest nights of her life.

“And he tried to rip my tongue out with his bare fingers from here all the way up to here and he succeeded, half way. He got the right side halfway. He got it halfway ripped out,” Carleigh said.

Talking through the pain of having her tongue reconstructed and bruises and bite marks all over her body, Carleigh recalled the traumatizing episode with her mother by her side. She says she and her now ex-boyfriend Ryan Cameron, 26, returned home from a wedding Saturday night with some friends. After launching a verbal assault things got physical.

“He locked our friends outside of our house and ran to the bathroom and locked us in the bathroom,” Carleigh said.

That's where she says he  beat her until she passed out. She tells us Ryan locked the group of friends out of the home during the attack. Those friends called police, a move The Julian Center CEO, Catherine O'Connor says may have saved Carleigh's life.

Carleigh says after a loving, two-year relationship the mental, verbal and physical abuse just started a month ago. The 25-year-old nursing assistant says she wants this story to warn others not to ignore the signs and know this is not what love looks like. Cont. (Video)

Pastor Arrested After Threatening Kids With Gun

Story out of New Castle, Indiana:

An Indiana pastor is accused of threatening to shoot children after telling them to stay away from his church.

According to court documents filed this week in Henry County, Bobby Slagle, 69, showed his firearm to the children while they were riding their bikes near the church. The Henry County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges of intimidation and resisting law enforcement against him.

According to the children’s account to police, a man later identified as Slagle told them to “get off his property or he was going to shoot them.” He then raised his shirt to show he had a gun. The handle was sticking out of his waistband.

Officers made the arrest at the church. As they tried to handcuff Slagle, he “tensed up” and started a brief struggle with officers.

Police said Slagle’s gun contained “four live rounds” of ammunition when they took him into custody. Cont.

Indiana Residents Up In Arms Over Parade Float Depicting Trump Executing Hillary Clinton In Electric Chair

Even when The Deplorables are trying to make a point, they can't make Trump not look like a bloated sack of heated crap.

Residents in Indiana are up in arms over a parade float Saturday that depicted Donald Trump throwing the switch on Hillary Clinton in an electric chair and President Obama as a Easter Island figure with an oversized head.

A public protest started when an Aurora mom posted a photo of the float on Facebook and condemned it as sexist and racist. Most commenters agreed with her, but others defended it.

"Who thinks this is appropriate for a fair parade where children, some of them minorities and girls, are marching and playing instruments and watching? Who thinks this is something to laugh at or be proud of?" Penny Britton said on her Facebook post. "This is disgusting. This makes me embarrassed to say I live here. This is Aurora, Indiana. Congratulations."

The float was part of the Aurora Farmers Fair Parade Saturday morning in the small Ohio River town 35 miles west of Cincinnati. It's sponsored by the Aurora Lions Club, according to its website, and touted as Indiana's oldest street festival. The theme of the parade was "Celebrating the Past, Embracing the Future."

Four people dressed in costume played the roles of Trump, Clinton, The Grim Reaper and a clergyman (from "The Exorcist?). The float bore Trump-Pence campaign signs and a few handwritten pro-Trump, anti-Clinton messages. Woman Arrested For Keeping Disabled, Emaciated Husband Locked In A Filthy Room For 2 Years

Story out of Greenwood, Indiana:

A woman in Greenwood is accused of keeping her disabled husband trapped in a room for two years in deplorable conditions.

Prosecutors charged 69-year-old Darlene Dickinson with felony neglect and police arrested her Tuesday afternoon at her Greenwood home.

Prosecutors say for years, that home held a terrible secret - a disturbing case of neglect kept hidden - until neighbor Lisa Tiedemann took action. She got worried when she hadn't seen Darlene Dickinson's 71-year-old husband, who is disabled, for months.

She says she waited until Dickinson went out one day in May and went over to look for the man.

She says she found flies, feces and the vulnerable victim begging for help.

When police got to the house following Tiedemann's call to 911, the victim weighed just 100 pounds. He told investigators his wife withheld medication and fed him one "Meals on Wheels" dinner and one warm can of Pepsi per day.

Investigators say the rest of the house was immaculate - everything but the bedroom where the victim was confined.

Police arrested Dickinson Tuesday afternoon. She faces up to three years in prison if convicted. Cont. (Video)

Teen Survives Bullet To The Head While Playing Russian Roulette

A teenager playing a game called Russian roulette shot himself in the head in New Castle Tuesday afternoon.

New Castle Mayor Greg York says the incident happened in a home with several other teenagers at approximately 3 p.m., according to Fox59.

The teenage victim was awake and alert as he was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital, according to Mayor York.

For those who are unfamiliar with the taboo game of Russian roulette, the person playing loads a bullet into one chamber of a revolver, spins the cylinder and then pulls the trigger while pointing the gun at their own head. Cont.

Fertility Doctor Uses Own Sperm To Inseminate Patients

                  

Story out of Indianapolis, Indiana:

A local fertility doctor accused of using his own sperm on patients appeared in court today.

Now-retired doctor Donald Cline is charged with two felony counts of obstruction of justice for statements he made to investigators.

Last May our crews spoke with a group of eight siblings, and according to court documents, Cline is a DNA match for all of them. The now-retired doctor allegedly admitted to some of the siblings his sperm could have been used up to 50 times.

“It was unethical what he did.  He was telling his patients one thing and doing another,” said one woman who we are not identifying but who says Cline is her biological father.

Working out of a professional building on 86^th Street, Dr. Cline always told his patients he used sperm from medical students during insemination.

According to court records, this year Dr. Cline admitted to his donor children, “He used his own sperm whenever he didn’t have a donor sample available.”  Cline also added, “He felt that he was helping women because they really wanted a baby.”

Dr. Cline retired from his medical practice in 2009.

As for his punishment, felony obstruction carries a maximum penalty of 18 months behind bars. Cont.

Woman Uses The Bible To Justify Beating Her 7-Year-Old With Coat Hanger

An Indianapolis woman who beat her 7-year-old son with a coat hanger is citing Indiana's religious freedom law as a defense against felony child abuse charges, saying her choice of discipline comes straight from her evangelical Christian beliefs.

The woman quoted biblical Scripture in court documents. She said that a parent who "spares the rod, spoils the child," and: "Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol."

The Religious Freedom Restoration Act, enacted in 2015, says the government cannot intrude on a person's religious liberty unless it can prove a compelling interest in imposing that burden, and can do so in the least restrictive way.

The woman, a Burmese refugee granted political asylum in the U.S., also is pointing to cultural differences as part of her defense. The case is complicated by an Indiana Supreme Court decision, one law expert said, that gives parents the right to use cords and belts — and possibly even coat hangers — to punish their children. Cont. (Video)

Black Man Calls 911 About Robbery, Police Shoot Him

Story out of Indianapolis, Indiana:

Early Tuesday in Indianapolis, an African-American woman was being carjacked in front of her home in her working class neighborhood. She ran back in the house, told her husband, who is also black, and they called the police to report the robbery. That seemed to be the right and safe thing to do.

As the police pulled up, the husband, who was later identified as 48-year-old Carl Williams, opened the garage to their home and was immediately shot in the gut by police.

They claim they believed he was the robber and that because he had a firearm of his own, he was shot in self-defense. Officials identified the officer who shot Williams as nine-year veteran cop Christopher Mills.

He, of course, was not the robber. In fact, police have yet to even say if they caught the robber. Since they dusted the car for fingerprints, it appears that the actual man committing a crime got away and the man who wanted to protect his wife and family was instead shot and currently fighting for his own life in the hospital. Cont. (Video/Autoplay)

“It Just Freaked Me Out" - 9-Year-Old Finds Abandoned Newborn Baby Near Pig Pen

Story out of Lowell, Indiana:

A 9-year-old girl in northwest Indiana found an abandoned infant on Monday morning in her family’s back yard. Elysia Laub found the infant at first thought the baby was a piglet. That’s because her family keeps pigs in a pen.

“It just freaked me out, I didn’t know what it was,” she tells CBS 2’s Brad Edwards.

She screamed for her mom, Heidi, who was incredulous. The baby still had placenta and umbilical cord attached. Initial investigation indicates that the newborn was at that location for an unknown period of time between several hours up to more than one day.

'Lying African' - Moron Causes Stir After Creating Ant-Obama Float For 4th Of July Parade

Story out of Sheridan, Indiana:

A golf cart parade float in Sheridan, Indiana, has everyone asking where the line is between independent free speech, offensiveness and racism.

The photo shows a golf cart decorated with Donald Trump presidential campaign signs and American flags. On one end of the vehicle is a motif of a lion with the words "African lion" on a sign underneath it. At the other end is an effigy of President Barack Obama waving, placed on top of a bucket (or toilet) that says "Royal Flush" with the words "Lying-African."

Driving the golf cart was Donald Christy, who's defending his actions.

"I’m not politically correct here. He’s an African. He’s told several lies to this country and people," Christy maintained.

Christy says he was just trying to demonstrate his independence when he joined Sheridan’s Fourth of July parade. He says he didn't intend to make an offensive or racist statement. Cont.

"I'm not a Democrat. I'm not a Republican," Christy told IndyStar. "I'm a patriot."

Christy wore a prison jumpsuit and a blonde wig while driving a golf cart through the parade. The cart's roof displayed signs in support of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. On the front was the head of a stuffed animal with a sign reading "African Lion." On the back, a doll with an Obama mask was propped in a toilet with a sign reading "Lying African." Cont.

Woman Dies After Being Hit By Ambulance, Billed For The Pleasure

Story out of Indianapolis, Indiana:

Imagine losing a loved one suddenly, and while trying to deal with the terrible loss, you get a bill for $25,000.

April Breck called RTV6 after seeing Call 6 Investigates and ABC News' joint investigation about air ambulances overcharging for transporting people.

In Breck's case, an air ambulance was called for her mother – but she passed away before it even arrived on scene.

Breck's mother, 64-year-old Sheila Breck, was driving to pick her up from work when an ambulance speeding to a call smashed into their SUV.

"It turns out that an ambulance going to a different call hit her in my car going 85 miles per hour, so as to her injuries … I mean, the list of injuries are page after page after page," Breck said.

Rescue crews working to pull Sheila out of the car called for an air ambulance. But the chopper, operated by PHI Air Medical, never actually transported Sheila because when it arrived her heart had already stopped.

"So then about a week later, I was trying to deal with all of the insurance issues, car insurance issues, and PHI, the air ambulance company, started calling me and telling me she had this bill for $25,000," Breck said. Cont.

War Veteran Beaten To Death After Proclaiming Love For Another Man

Story out of South Bend, Indiana:

A 23-year-old man is accused of beating to death an Afghanistan war veteran for allegedly saying he was in love with the suspect.

Jabreeh Cash Davis-Martin of South Bend has been charged with murder in the death of Jodie Henderson, 27, who served in the Army National Guard.

His cause of death was undetermined for more than a month, but the county coroner ruled in late February that he died primarily of multiple blunt-force and chop injuries. Possible contributing factors also included acute alcohol intoxication and exposure to cold weather.

According to county Prosecutor Ken Cotter, investigators allege that Davis-Martin attacked Henderson after being told by a third person that Henderson said he loved Davis-Martin in a romantic way.

Cotter said that Davis-Martin returned to his home after being informed of the statements by Henderson and struck him with a piece of furniture, believed to be the bar stool. He left, but returned and attacked the stricken Henderson — who was still alive — as he was lying on the ground in a fetal position, according to the affidavit.

Because Indiana does not have a hate crime law, the suspect will not be charged with a hate crime, Cotter said at a news conference Tuesday. Cont.

Jesus Loving Cop Being Sued For Pulling People Over And Proselytizing

Have you heard the word? You too can be saved by ... seat belts. Story out of Indiana:

Indiana State Police Trooper Brian Hamilton was warned before: Stop proselytizing to people during traffic stops.

But a new lawsuit claims the trooper — who was sued once before for preaching on the job — didn’t learn his lesson the first time.

A complaint filed in federal court Tuesday by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana, on behalf of Wendy Pyle, accuses Hamilton of asking her whether “she had been saved” after pulling her over in Fayette County in January. Court documents claim Hamilton then told the woman about his church and gave her directions to it.

“Ms. Pyle was extremely uncomfortable with these questions,” the lawsuit says. “In order to hopefully end these inquiries Ms. Pyle indicated that she did attend a church and that she was saved.”

If this story sounds familiar, that’s because Hamilton has been sued before. The ACLU filed a similar lawsuit in 2014 when a woman named Ellen Bogan claimed Hamilton stopped her that August for an alleged traffic violation in Union County. After he handed her a warning ticket, she said, he asked her if she had a home church and whether she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Cont. (Video)

Pastor Pleads Guilty To Making And Selling 100 Tons Of Synthetic Marijuana

Story out of Indianapolis, Indiana:

Robert Jaynes Jr., the fundamentalist pastor who used his Irvington Bible Baptist Church as a virtual employment agency for a multimillion-dollar drug ring, pleaded guilty to two federal charges Tuesday.

Jaynes, 45, pleaded guilty to producing almost 100 tons of synthetic marijuana, known as "spice" or "K2," and conspiracy to commit fraud through mislabeling of the controlled substance. His plea agreement, filed in federal court in St. Louis, said he sold the drugs for $2.6 million.

Their guilty pleas are the latest twist in a bizarre story, reported by IndyStar in October. It involved not only the small church and its fire-and-brimstone preacher but an unlikely web of married cops, a former traveling clown who ran for the state legislature, an Indianapolis Public Schools teacher, bribery and, recently, the suicide of a suspect in jail. Cont.
