4 People, Including 2-Month-Old Found Dead In Alaska Hotel Room

Four people, including a two-month-old baby, have been found dead in a hotel room as police investigate what they believe is a murder-suicide.

Police found the bodies of 54-year-old Linda Hutton, 22-year-old Emily McDonald, 22-year-old McKay Hutton and eight-week-old Teagan Hutton at a Hampton Inn in Fairbanks, Alaska on Friday.

It remains unclear who the shooter was, but police confirmed they were family, and McKay Hutton and McDonald were married just last year, according to their Facebook profiles.

A member of the hotel staff at a Hampton Inn in Fairbanks, Alaska, called the police at 1.25pm Friday, and they arrived to find a man crying in the second-floor hallway.

The man, who is not considered a suspect, directed authorities to a nearby room, where the four bodies were found with gunshot wounds.

Police say details involving the shooter and any motive is still under investigation. Cont.

Ninja Breaks Into Store To Steal Katana Sword

The ninja suspect broke into the Spenard Bosco’s some time after closing, according to Erich Helmick, a staff member.

Helmick said he and others are checking the store’s inventory, but that so far it seems only a white katana sword was taken.

“The sword was the only thing we could make out well enough on the video to say for sure,” he added.

A report has been filed with the Anchorage Police Department, Helmick confirmed.

“APD was amazing,” he said in his email. “They arrived very quickly and were incredibly professional. It was fun watching them on the video footage go about what must have been a very hair raising task.”

He said he was in no rush to hear back from police, who also investigated a fatal officer-involved shooting Saturday morning. Cont. (Video)

"Unknown Circumstances" - 5 People Killed In Alaska After Two Commuter Planes Collide

Five people were killed when two small airplanes collided in midair Wednesday over a remote section of Alaska, the Alaska State Troopers reported.

It's not known why the midair crash happened about 376 miles west of Anchorage, said Allen Kenitzer, with the Federal Aviation Administration office of communications. He said the crash happened under "unknown circumstances."

The collision involved a Hageland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan carrying three people and a Renfro's Alaska Adventures Piper PA-18 Super Cub with two people inside, said Candis A. Olmstead, director of public affairs for the Alaska National Guard.

An aviation company contacted the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center at 11 a.m. and said they had lost radio contact with an aircraft and that it was overdue, she said.

About 15 minutes later, the Alaska State Troopers contacted the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center to report a second aircraft was overdue, Olmstead said.

Later in the day, an aircraft spotted wreckage of the two planes on the ground near Russian Mission, she said.

Names of the people on board have not been released. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating. Cont.

Alaskan State Fair Invites Rapper To Perform, Escorts Him Out After He Starts Rapping

Fairbanks rappers Bishop Slice and Starbuks were invited to the Tanana Valley State Fair to perform Thursday, but their set was cut short when the fair's general manager stopped the show and told them to leave the fairgrounds.

Starbuks, real name Michael Cofey, was escorted from the fairgrounds by security guards after confronting the fair's general manager, Joyce Whitehorn, about why she pulled the plug on their performance. He broadcast his questions to Whitehorn live over Facebook and kept the camera rolling as he made his way to the parking lot.

"What I'm starting to personally think, the way you approached this initially, the stage was just a little too dark for you," Cofey, who is black, says to Whitehorn.

The other performer, Julian Lillie, aka Bishop Slice, is Alaska Native.

The video was widely shared on social media over the weekend, prompting outrage from viewers and dozens of comments to the Tanana fair Facebook page in which people said they'd boycott the fair, with some saying the decision seemed motivated by racism. Cont. (Video)

Idiot Tourists Chase Goat To Death Trying To Take It's Picture

Story out of Seward, Alaska:

A crowd of onlookers snapping pictures of a mountain goat chased the animal to its death in the small Alaska town of Seward.

Now the Division of Alaska State Troopers is asking visitors to "stay back for your own protection and the protection of the animal," said spokeswoman Megan Peters.

Seward troopers received a report of onlookers harassing a mountain goat. But the white goat was gone by the time troopers arrived, Peters said.

A half hour later, another call was received about the goat swimming in the ocean in front of the SeaLife Center. Investigators determined that a large group had followed the animal to the aquarium and marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation facility, where it jumped into the ocean.

"They were trying to take a picture or just looking," Peters said. "People come here to see wildlife."

Unable to return to the rocky shore because of the people standing there, the goat drowned, according to a report of the incident.

Alaska State Troopers said: "It is imperative that wildlife is given adequate space to be able to leave a congested area like downtown Seward." Cont.

Sarah Palin's Son Accepts Plea Deal In Domestic Violence Case

Track Palin, son of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, reached a plea agreement in an Anchorage court this week on initial charges of punching a woman in the face at the family's home in January, the Alaska DaIly News reports.

The case was taken up this week by a special court for veterans at the request of the defendant, Track Palin's lawyer, Kevin Fitzgerald, told the newspaper on Friday.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped two of three misdemeanor charges, including domestic-violence assault and interfering with the report of a domestic-violence crime.

Fitzgerald says Track, who served with the U.S. Army in Iraq for one year from 2008, pleaded to misconduct involving weapons for being under the influence and having a firearm.

Under terms of the deal, Track Palin will have to complete an "alcohol-related" treatment program, Fitzgerald says. The weapon charge would be expunged if he completes the program. Otherwise, he could get a 180-day suspended jail sentence and be placed under informal probation for two years.

Track, 27, was arrested at the Palin family home after a woman told police that he struck and kicked her during a dispute. The woman also said, according to a police affidavit, that he threw her phone and at one point threatened to kill himself with a rifle.

Trump said this week that Palin would not be attending the Republican convention next week in Cleveland because it was too far from her home state. Cont.

After Arresting Man For DUI Police Discover Tortured, Dead Woman In Backseat

Story out of Anchorage, Alaska:

A late night DUI crash turned into a homicide investigation after police found a dead woman in the back of a vehicle Monday night. Charging documents against the driver, 34-year-old Benjamin Wilkins, revealed the woman had been severely injured and killed prior to the crash.

Wilkins was detained on suspicion of intoxication after failing field sobriety tests, according to charging documents. As he was being transported to the Anchorage Correctional Complex, officers at the scene of the crash located 30-year-old Jacqueline Goodwin’s body hidden under a sleeping bag in the back seat of the vehicle.

Her wrists were bound with zip ties and a garbage bag had been placed over her head, charging documents stated. She was still warm to the touch and, in an effort to help her, police took the bag off her head. Her mouth was covered with tape and zip ties, and zip ties had been stuffed down her throat.

Unable to establish an airway or a pulse, medics declared her dead at the scene. Cont.

Inmate Escapes, Returns For Friends

A minimum-security prisoner who escaped from a halfway house in Alaska came back three hours later, but it wasn't to turn himself in.

State Troopers say 20-year-old Joshua Yaska returned with an SUV and tried to help other inmates flee the facility in Fairbanks.

Staff members say Yaska was spotted leaving on a bike just after 1 a.m. Sunday. Troopers say he returned at 4:20 a.m. and tried to "aid in the escape of other inmates."

Authorities say he tried to strike a halfway house employee with the vehicle. Troopers say they caught up with him that night after he broke into a relative's home. Cont.

Man Accidentally Shot Dead While Taking Pictures At Gun Range

Story out of Anchorage, Alaska:

An Anchorage man was killed Saturday after stepping into the line of fire while attempting to visually capture other people shooting guns in Sutton, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers were first notified of the incident at 10:36 p.m. when someone called to report a gunshot wound victim at a place known by locals as the Gravel Pits in the area of Jonesville Mine Road.

When troopers arrived, an individual at the scene was performing CPR on 30-year-old Army veteran Adam Malaby.

Malaby was medevaced to Providence Medical Center, in Anchorage, where he was pronounced dead.

“Investigation revealed Malaby had stepped in the line of fire while attempting to video or photograph others shooting and was shot by another individual that was firing a .40-caliber pistol,” troopers explained.

The area they were shooting in isn’t an official shooting range, but the sounds of gunshots and all-terrain vehicles are a constant. After living nearby for more than two years, James Meyers said he’s gotten used to some of the noise. Cont. (Video)

Children Suspended After Plotting To Poison Classmates

Three Winterberry Charter School students have been disciplined for allegedly trying to poison a classmate, according to Anchorage School District officials.

The incident was first brought to a teacher’s attention on March 22, according to ASD spokeswoman Heidi Embley. She said a student overheard three others discussing their plan to use silica gel — a substance commonly found in product packaging — to poison another classmate. Silica gel is not toxic and is used to prevent moisture.

“Given such a young age, it’s not clear if they knew what they were doing, if it was just a threat or something more serious,” she said.

“The students had taken some plastic packets that are inside of a sealed food bag, meant for preservation of the food and say “do not consume” on the packaging, and brought them to school with the intent of putting them in another student’s lunch,” APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro explained. “The students had thought the packets contained poison. Alaska Airlines Pilot Arrested For Flying Drunk

David Hans Arntson was arrested Wednesday at his California home and arraigned on the felony charge later that day. The 60-year-old pilot is accused of piloting two Alaska Airlines flights in June 2014 while under the influence, according to federal prosecutors.

On the day in question, Arntson flew from San Diego to Portland, and then from Portland to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California. When he landed at John Wayne, the airline selected Arntson for a random drug and alcohol test.

Prosecutors say an airline technician performed two tests on Arntson, and both were over the legal limit. The pilot had a blood alcohol concentration of .134 and .142, according to prosecutors.

The charge of operating a common carrier while under the influence of alcohol or drugs carries a statutory maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison. Cont.

Sarah Palin's Son Arrested For Domestic Abuse On Eve Of Mother Endorsing Trump

Less than 24 hours before she endorsed Donald Trump, Sarah Palin's son was arrested on domestic violence charges, police in Wasilla, Alaska, said Tuesday.

Track Palin, the former governor and vice president candidate's 26-year-old son, was arrested and charged with interfering with the report of a domestic violence, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and assault on his girlfriend, which are all misdemeanors, police said.

Around 10 p.m. Monday local time (2 a.m. Tuesday ET) a police officer responded to a 911 call at the Palin household in Wasilla. The officer wrote that when he met Track Palin in the driveway he was "uncooperative, belligerent and evasive with my initial line of questioning," court documents show.

Track and his girlfriend of one year had been arguing about her contact with an ex-boyfriend most of the day, even during a dinner at his sister's house, before returning to the house where he lives with his parents, according to the court documents.

The girlfriend told a police officer at the scene that Track approached her and, "struck her on the left side of her head near her eye with a closed fist," sending her to the ground, where she curled up into a fetal position, the documents show.

Track then allegedly kicked his girlfriend in the right knee, and threw her phone across the driveway, the girlfriend told police. She then ran to retrieve her phone and ran back inside the Palin home, where she was met by Track — and his AR-15 rifle, according to the court documents.

The girlfriend, not sure if Track "would shoot himself," ran outside and around the house — losing sight of Track — and ran to hide under a bed, documents said. Cont.
