The U.S. State Department has apologized after sending a tweet that some thought suggested unattractive Americans are easily conned into buying other peoples’ drinks when they’re travelling abroad.
The tweet, which has been deleted since it was sent out Wednesday afternoon, said, “Not a ’10’ in the US? Then not a 10 overseas. Beware of being lured into buying expensive drinks or worse – being robbed. #springbreakingbadly.”
It was sent as part of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs’ #springbreakingbadly series of warnings about some of the perils of spring break travel. Cont.
