A man protesting the proposed evacuation of migrants and refugees from a Greek port to refugee centres grabbed a few-months-old baby and threatened to throw her at police, Greek media reported.
Another man later took the child from his hands and handed her back to her mother.
Earlier the Greek General Secretary for Migration Policy, Vassilis Papadopoulos, who had been at the port to inform the migrants and refugees of their options, faced a heated protest.
Dozens of migrants and refugees have been staging a sit-down protest in Greece’s main port of Piraeus, where thousands have been camping out for weeks, after reports that authorities would try to move the people there into organised camps.
Dozens shouted at police and sat on the dock chanting “open the borders”.
Greek authorities have been trying to persuade the more than 4,700 people camping in small tents in the port to move to organised camps, but few have been boarding the buses provided. Cont. (Video)
