An Uber driver has been sacked after a lesbian couple recorded him calling them ‘faggots’.
Lucy Thomas, the CEO of anti-bullying charity Project Rockit, went home with her girlfriend in an Uber from dinner in Melbourne, Australia.
During what they thought was a pleasant conversation, with the two telling the driver they were planning to go to a football game, the driver started to rant.
The driver, who know they know only as John, said he ‘hated’ football because the players were ‘a bunch of faggots touching each other’. When John asked the couple if they were gay, Thomas’ girlfriend answered yes.
‘He stopped being cheery and a cloud came over him,’ she told the Sunday Morning Herald. ‘He was very aggressive and the tone changed.’
‘What, are you going to give me a one [star] rating and make a complaint [to Uber], and when I write my report about two faggots who don’t like being called faggots, then what are they going to say?’ John said in the recording Thomas made. Cont. (Audio)
