Little Marco Tries To Defend Speaking At Anti-Gay Event, Fails

In July the POS was confronted by a protester who said: "I’m really angry at you, I don’t feel you’re doing anything to support the LGBTQ people. I need to know what is your relationship is with the NRA. Why are you talking with transphobes and homophobes like John Stemberger... all of you have blood on your hands,”

Florida Senator Marco Rubio is scheduled to speak at an event sponsored by the Liberty Counsel, an organization that consistently fights against LGBTI equality.

The Republican, who said he decided to run for re-election because of the murder of 53 at the Pulse nightclub, justifies his decision to speak in front of a group that supports the anti-marriage equality county clerk from Kentucky,  Kim Davis.

‘Because I believe that a strong America is not possible without strong families and strong values, for years now I have participated in events hosted by faith leaders to speak about the cultural and social issues before America, including the importance of parents and families, religious liberties and combating poverty,’ the senator said in a statement, according to Think Progress.

Faith in America, a religious LGBTI organization, called on the senator not to attend the 12 August conference.

‘It’s incredulous a senator of the United States is willing to collude with individuals who are dedicated to oppressing LGBT people,’ Eliel Cruz, the group’s executive director said in a statement.

In his failed run for the White House, Rubio argued the marriage debate did not belong on the federal level and described Obergefell v. Hodges, the US Supreme Court case making marriage equality legal in all the states, ‘bad law.’ Cont.
