Vietnam Vet Sets Himself On Fire Over Trump Argument

Story out of Akron, Ohio

A Vietnam veteran in Akron, Ohio, set himself on fire Saturday after becoming frustrated with locals in a coffee shop for not protesting President-elect Donald Trump vehemently enough, ABC 5 News Cleveland reports. The unnamed 69-year-old walked into Angel Falls Coffee around 9:15 a.m. and began engaging with customers about the recent protests. While about 300 marched against Trump recently in the nearby city of Cleveland, and thousands nationwide, the vet thought the demonstrations should be larger. “He seemed to be pro-rally, against Trump and he talked to my customers about how people needed to protest more against Trump,” Angel Falls Coffee shop owner Jim King told ABC News 5 Cleveland.

Dressed in a U.S. Marine Corps uniform and becoming upset, the man then left the coffee shop and handed a passerby his phone requesting they begin recording. Things turned gruesome – the vet then grabbed a can of gasoline from his car, doused himself in it, and set himself on fire. While the passerby didn’t take the video, witnesses were able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher. “He was curled in a fetal position, perfectly still except for some hand movement and he was completely covered in ash,” said King.

The vet was taken to a nearby hospital where he is currently being treated in the burn unit. He is expected to survive. Cont.

Woman Pleads Insanity After Decapitating Infant Daughter

Story out of Cincinnati, Ohio:

Deasia Watkins, the mom accused of decapitating her infant daughter, rejected the Hamilton County prosecutor's plea deal Monday morning. She is pursuing an insanity plea and wants to go to trial.

Police said Watkins, 21, stabbed her 3-month-old daughter Janiyah to death in March 2015. She is charged with aggravated murder, which carries a sentence of 15 years to life in prison.

According to Hamilton County Coroner Lakshmi Sammarco's report, the infant sustained multiple stab wounds to the right side of her face and head, and her “head was severed from her body." When asked during a news conference how many stab wounds Janiyah sustained, Sammarco said she'd "lost count."

According to court records, shortly after Janiyah’s birth last December, doctors diagnosed Watkins with post-partum psychosis, a condition characterized by the onset of psychotic behavior after childbirth.

Hamilton County Job and Family Services had documented a troubled relationship between Watkins and her daughter in the weeks and months leading up to the infant’s death, presumably as a result of Watkins’ illness. Just over a month after Janiyah was born, Watkins was hospitalized at Deaconess. She was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold after an incident on Jan. 24. Police responded that day to the home of James Brown, Janiyah's father, where neighbors told officers they heard Watkins screaming and the baby crying. Cont.

Teens Suspended After Exposing Racist Rant Of Fellow Student

Story out of Shaker Heights, Ohio:

It was an attempt to expose racism on Twitter, but now two high school students are facing suspension after posting another student's rants online.

"It was the day after the election, my friend who is no longer my friend put on a snap story about black people," said Shaker Heights junior Elena Weingard.

Weingard said the post was so racially insensitive that she decided to screen grab it and put it on her own Snapchat.

Enter in Myahh Husamadeen, a Shaker Heights sophomore who decided to expose those comments on her Twitter. From there, social media exploded.

"I think people were hurt to see that this kind of racism still exists. Especially in such a place in Shaker Heights, where everyone seems to be liberal and seems to be accepting, and I think people were hurt," Weingard said.

Thursday afternoon, both Elena and Myahh were called to the office. Both said they were suspended for "disruptive behavior."

Elena said she's disappointed the student who posted the racist rants was not disciplined. Cont. (Video)

Headless Body Found Under Piles Of Trash In Hoarder's Home

Story out of Chillicothe, Ohio:

Chillicothe police have removed the remains of an unidentified body from a home.

Chillicothe Police Detective Bud Lytle said officials found the body under "several inches of garbage," and carried the body out of the home around noon. Lytle said the body was "badly decomposed." So much so that they could not determine a gender or make an identification.

Officials are waiting on results from the autopsy to release an identity. Lytle said at this point in the investigation, there are no indications of foul play.

Lytle said entire skeletal remains were found, however, they believe the head was moved from the body post-mortem.

Just to get to the home, authorities and representatives from the city's Safety Service Department had to use chainsaws to cut through thorns and brush. Cont.

After Relentless Bullying 11-Year-Old Brain Cancer Survivor Kills Self

Story out of Cable, Ohio:

The relentless bullying became too much to handle for an 11-year-old girl with a "crooked" smile, her mother said.

At 3 years old, Bethany Thompson was diagnosed with a brain tumor and battled through radiation treatments. Though cancer-free since 2008, treatment caused nerve damage that changed Bethany's smile. That, and her curly hair, led to bullying, said Bethany's mother, Wendy Feucht.

Feucht said after a particularly tough Wednesday with bullies, Bethany told her best friend she couldn't take it anymore, and was going to take her own life.

The Cable, Ohio, sixth grader killed herself that afternoon, October 19.

Her friend's father called Bethany's mom, but it was too late. Bethany found a gun kept in the house, and shot herself one time, police said.

Triad School District Superintendent Chris Piper confirmed the school was aware of the bullying.

"Last school year, district officials investigated a complaint raised by the student and appropriately resolved the same. As many school districts across the country are currently doing, the Triad Local School District is undertaking efforts to bolster anti-harassment and bullying training for both students and staff," Piper said in a statement." Cont.

Large Pile Of Dung Dumped In Front Of Democratic Party Headquarters In Ohio

I'd say Democrats should seek out revenge but with Trump, Republicans are already shoveling copious amounts of shit.

Story out of Warren County, Ohio:

For those who think this election season can’t get crappier, we bring you to Warren County, Ohio, where a large truckload of manure was dumped in front of Warren County Democratic Party headquarters in Lebanon, about 35 miles northeast of Cincinnati.

A sheriff’s deputy was the first to notice the pile and alerted office leaders of it about 8 a.m. Saturday, local party officials told The Washington Post.

If any of this sounds or looks familiar, it may be because a similar dump occurred at the same offices in 2012. Nobody was ever caught after that incident.

The pile was about 15 to 20 feet wide and about 3 feet tall at its peak, Goldenfield estimated. Most of it was cleared early Saturday afternoon by volunteers and a contractor the office hired to haul away the manure, she said. Cont.

"Lugenpresse” - Trump Supporters Yell Nazi Slogan At CNN Host

Story out of Cleveland, Ohio:

Donald Trump’s supporters have stopped pretending they’re not backing a racist to win the US presidential election and just started quoting Hitler instead.

A pair of the self-claimed billionaire’s backers were caught on video at a campaign rally in Cleveland, Ohio, channeling the Nazi dictator.

One, holding a sign bearing Trump’s slogan, angrily brandished at TV cameras, telling the journalists operating them: “That’s what you are: Lugenpresse.”

Huffington Post’s Christina Wilkie points out, Lugenpresse was a term most famously used by Adolf Hitler.

Nina Janich, a professor at the Technical University Darmstadt and head of the six-member jury that selects such terms each year from the submissions, said at the time: “Luegenpresse’ is a word contaminated by the Nazis.” Cont.

U.S. Representative Calls Veterans "Moochers"

Story out of West Chester, Ohio:

U.S. Rep. Warren Davidson told a room full of veterans that one way to clean up the Department of Veterans Affairs’ health care system is to get the “moochers” out of it.

The Troy Republican and Army veteran spoke with the Concerned Veterans for America at a town hall event Monday evening in West Chester Twp.

“Just like workers comp out here’s got moochers, I wish that there were no vets that were the same sort of problem on our society,” said Davidson. “But part of the problem is there are some vets that are moochers and they’re clogging up the system. And we do as taxpayers want to make sure the VA filters out these folks that are pretenders. Just like we wish there were no people out there with stolen valor, but that’s a problem in the vet community too.” Cont.

Story out of Willoughby Hills, Ohio:

A 2-year-old suffered a fatal fall from an 11th floor apartment in Willoughby Wednesday morning.

"Unusual Occurrence" - Human Heart Found Beside Gas Station

Story out of Norwalk, Ohio:

A coroner says a heart found in a plastic bag on the ground next to an Ohio gas station appears to be human.

Huron County Coroner Jeff Harwood said Tuesday pathologists in Toledo are running tests to confirm whether it’s human and whether fluid found in the two-quart zipped bag is some type of preservative.

“I guess it’s an unusual occurrence,” Sgt. Jim Fulton of the Norwalk Police Department told WOIO. “We have no idea where it came from.”

The heart was found Aug. 25 in Norwalk by an ambulance crew that had parked at the gas station.

According to WOIO, the paramedic who discovered the organ threw it in a dumpster, but was later ordered to retrieve the heart.

Police and Harwood were called to the scene where Harwood placed it in a cooler for delivery to Toledo.

Harwood says it appears to be a preserved specimen with “anomalies” likely present at birth. He says the origin of the heart is a mystery along with why someone left it next to the gas station. Cont. (Video)

US Green Party Candidate Jill Stein Goes To Wrong City For Event

Stein smart, run president good. Story out of Cincinnati/Columbus, Ohio:

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein instead ended up in Cincinnati after a campaign staffer mistakenly booked her flight to the wrong “C” city in Ohio.

Stein’s scheduled noon speech at Capital University in Bexley instead came at 2:35 p.m. after she jumped into a car to be driven up I-71 to the correct spot.

Stein’s shoestring campaign relies on commercial flights rather than the private jets used by the major party candidates who she denounced as “corrupt servants of the billionaire class.”

Perennial Green Party candidate Bob Fitrakis, who is running for Franklin County prosecutor, could only good naturedly shake his head as he waited with dozens of others for Stein to arrive. They snacked on campaign-provided pizza, a "thank you" for sticking around. Cont.

Judge Sends Attorney To Jail After She Refused To Remove 'Black Lives Matter' Pin

Story out of Youngstown, Ohio:

An attorney was removed from court and taken into custody after a judge declared her in contempt for refusing to take off a Black Lives Matter pin.

Youngstown Municipal Court Judge Robert Milich said Attorney Andrea Burton was in contempt of court for refusing to remove the pin in his courtroom as instructed. Burton was sentenced to five days in jail, but she has been released on a stay while an appeal is underway.

The Youngstown branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) said its legal counsel is monitoring the case closely as it may violate Burton’s civil rights.

The judge said his ruling is based on Supreme Court case law in which a judge can prohibit symbolic political expression in courtrooms, even if it’s not disruptive.

Legal analysts say judges have free reign when it comes to what’s said, or worn, in their courtrooms. Cont. (Video)

“I am awesome” - FBI Investigates Poison Stickers Handed To Police By Protesters During RNC Convention

This is reminiscent of a Christian group who in recent years has been handing out fake condoms during pride parades. Story out of Cleveland, Ohio:

Federal and local officials are investigating stickers that protesters at the Republican National Convention gave to police officers working the crowds in downtown Cleveland Thursday.

A Georgia state trooper and a Cleveland police officer were treated for skin irritation after coming in contact with the stickers, reports WOIO in Cleveland.

The stickers were yellow and had the words “I am awesome” printed on them. Cleveland media reported that protesters handed them out to officers at the protests.

The Cleveland police officer was treated after he felt a numbness in his neck, the TV station reported. The state trooper was treated at the scene and released.

Authorities confiscated stickers from a man they detained for about 90 minutes, Cleveland.com reported. He was released without charges.

The man told the website that a stranger gave him several stickers. State crime lab officials swabbed his shirt where he had worn a sticker.

The FBI and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are currently investigating the stickers. Cont.

Trump "Air Kissed" Mike Pence At RNC Convention

This is the result after the teleprompter displayed "embrace"? You don't want to know what the two did after it accidentally displayed 'shake hands job.' Story out of Cleveland, Ohio:

Donald Trump’s would-be smooch of running mate Mike Pence is drawing attention on social media.

Pence’s teleprompter displayed the stage direction “embrace” just after his acceptance speech Wednesday at the Republican National Convention. But Trump, after coming onstage and shaking Pence’s hand, puckered his lips and appeared to go in for a kiss on the forehead of the Indiana governor before both men stopped short and smiled.

Some Twitter users say the awkward “air kiss” draws comparisons Al and Tipper Gore’s famous kiss at the Democratic National Convention in 2000. One Facebook user says it was simply a New York-style show of affection by Trump. Cont.

Pokemon GO Players Arrested For Jumping Zoo Fence

It had nothing to do with Pokemon GO, they were just there to see the Primeape, but the security got all Krabby. Story out of Toledo, Ohio:

The two people accused of jumping a fence at the Toledo Zoo to play the popular mobile game Pokemon Go have plead not guilty.

Police say Robin Bartholomy, 25, and Adrian Crawford, 26, are charged with criminal trespassing. Police say they jumped the fence around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. According to the police report, officers spotted the two on a security camera. They were then apprehended near the tiger exhibit.

The zoo is a veritable treasure trove for players of Pokemon Go, as the game uses defined landmarks and various terrain to spawn the creatures in the real world. Hundreds of people make their way there daily, but not all are there for the animals.

The Toledo Zoo welcomes visitors who may be coming to the zoo to play Pokemon Go, as long as they acknowledge the barriers and safety measures set up to keep visitors safe.

Criminal trespassing ranges from a Fourth degree to a First degree misdemeanor in Ohio and could mean jail time of 30 to 180 days - a price this Pokemaster says is not worth the catch. Cont. (Video)
