Argument Over Hermit Crab Leads To Shooting

What are they going to do when the kid wants a puppy? Story out of Northampton County, Pennsylvania:

An argument over a hermit crab led a Nazareth man to allegedly pull out a handgun Sunday evening and fire a shot at another man's car with a woman sitting inside.

Nazareth police Chief Thomas Trachta said the shooting happened as Maisonet and his fiancée met outside their home with the woman's ex-husband, who was dropping off their son after a weekend visit. Maisonet and the father began arguing over whether the boy would be allowed to bring a fish tank with a pet hermit crab into the home, Trachta said.

Officer Randall S. Pompei Jr. wrote in an affidavit that he was called to the first block of Easton Road in Nazareth for a report of gunshots about 6:24 p.m.

There, the officer met the boy's father, who said that after he and Maisonet argued about the hermit crab, Maisonet pointed a black handgun toward him and his girlfriend, who was sitting in his car, according to the affidavit.

Maisonet allegedly fired a shot, striking the left front wheel of the car. Maisonet then stood in front of the car, allegedly pointing the gun at the boy's father and his girlfriend, who were, by that time, both seated in the vehicle, according to the affidavit. Cont.
