“I’m Not Going To Give It Up” - Man Vows To Continue To Stalk Reporter After His 15 Year Probation Sentence Is Over

Story out of Darby, Pennsylvania:

An Upper Darby man who entered an open plea to stalking and terroristic threats Wednesday indicated he still intends to contact his victim when his probation is up – in 15 years.

“I’m not going to give it up,” Christopher Nilan told Judge Gregory Mallon during sentencing. “I don’t do that. I’m not going to give it up. I want to be with her. I’m the only person who can protect her.”

Nilan, 32, of the unit block of Park Avenue, was arrested in January after his desire to date a member of CBS 3’s “Eyewitness News” team turned to obsession, according to police.

The fixation began in November, when Nilan approached a male reporter about contacting the victim. That reporter directed Nilan to look up her contact information on the CBS 3 website. The reporter also said he later received a letter from Nilan requesting more information that included his phone number.

Another witness reported receiving two phone calls from Nilan Jan. 6 and 12 asking to speak with the victim. A third witness reported calling Nilan after getting word of his continued attempts to contact the victim.

“She advised him employees are not encouraged to have relationships with viewers,” according to the affidavit. “Nilan was persistent and kept asking to speak with the victim and he wanted to meet her. Nilan claimed to be a former firefighter and a ‘good guy.’ He wanted to protect the victim from bad guys when she was not working and wanted to get a drink and dinner at an Italian restaurant near the Upper Darby police department. Nilan further stated he lives in an apartment nearby and he wanted to take the victim there as well. Nilan claimed to have personal things he needed to share with the victim that he could not tell (the witness).” Cont.
