A Confusing story of incompetence out of Texas:
The robber who fatally shot the president of the Bank of Eufaula had been released from prison by mistake.
Cedric Lamont Norris, 39, died after the bank robbery Thursday during a shoot-out with police.
He had been released from a Texas prison in March 2012, even though he still had to complete a 60-year prison sentence and 10-year prison sentence in Oklahoma, records show.
Tulsa County and Creek County officials are putting the blame on the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the agency that runs that state's prisons. Texas corrections officials, however, insist they don't have any notices from Oklahoma that would have prevented his release there in 2012.
Norris was arrested in Dallas in February 2005 after a string of jewelry store robberies in both Oklahoma and Texas. He was moved in December 2005 to Tulsa County and then Creek County for trials. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a Tulsa jewelry store robbery and 60 years for a Sapulpa jewelry store robbery. Cont.
