Teen Suing RCMP After Being Shot With Stolen Officer's Gun
Story out of Winnipeg, Manitoba:
A Winnipeg teenager who was shot in the chest with a gun stolen from an RCMP officer is suing the Mounties and the officer who the weapon belonged to.
Calli Vanderaa, 16, spent nearly three weeks recovering in hospital after the shooting in October, 2015.
On Friday, her lawyer Robert Tapper filed the statement of claim.
It alleges that the RCMP officer “left his police belt, replete with firearm, Taser and baton, visible on the backseat of the car.”
The claim goes on to say the firearm was then stolen by the assailant, who shot Vanderaa. Cont.
